WHA2 Enjoys Record Attendance Weekend

January 12, 2004 - SPHL (SPHL) News Release

CELEBRATION, Fla. – The World Hockey Association 2 (WHA2) today announced that WHA2 teams enjoyed their best attendance weekend to date. Nearly 22,000 fans went through the turnstiles for nine games in five WHA2 cities.

"I would like to commend the teams on all their hard work and congratulate them on their success this weekend." WHA2 Chairman of the Board of Governors David Waronker said. "We believed that attendance would pick up as football season winds down and we look forward to continuing that trend."

The WHA2 teams have several special promotional nights scheduled throughout the rest of the season including Faith Nights, NASCAR nights, Military Nights, and Cub Scout Nights.

"With special promotions and great hockey, we are looking forward to packing the arenas in the New Year." Waronker said. "We are excited about our Inaugural All-Star Game in Jacksonville on January 27 and the playoff rush in early April."

The WHA2 has six member teams for the 2003 – 2004 season: the Alabama Slammers, Jacksonville Barracudas, Lakeland Loggerheads, Macon Trax, Miami Manatees, and Orlando Seals. Each team will play a 60-game schedule. Every game will be broadcast on www.irn.fm.
