RAPIDS HOLD THREE PICKS IN MLS SUPERDRAFT ON THURSDAY IN INDIANAPOLIS: Holding three picks heading into Thursday's 2013 MLS SuperDraft, Colorado Rapids Technical Staff will be making final assessments this week on players that could be potential selections. The club holds the 6th, 25th and 30th overall picks, and fans and media can watch the action live, starting at 10 a.m. MT, on MLSsoccer.com, ESPN3, ESPNFC and YouTube. Last season, the Rapids selected forward Tony Cascio with their only pick of the draft (14th overall). PLAYERS REPORT FOR PRESEASON THIS THURSDAY, JANUARY 17: After two months off during the offseason, the Colorado Rapids players will report back to Dick's Sporting Goods Park this Thursday, Jan. 17 to begin preparing for the 2013 regular season. The players will go through physical examinations on Thursday, and Friday will be the first opportunity for media and fans to see the squad at a 10 a.m. MT training session on the turf fields. The team will train again on Saturday morning at 10 a.m., have Sunday off, and then begin two-a-days on Monday with 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. sessions.
2013 SEASON SCHEDULE SET; RAPIDS OPEN CAMPAIGN AT DALLAS MARCH 2: The Colorado Rapids announced the 2013 regular season schedule last week, featuring their March 2 season opener at FC Dallas, and their home opener against Philadelphia Union on March 9 at 4 p.m. MT (tickets). The season is highlighted by an early installment of the Subaru Rocky Mountain Cup at rivals Real Salt Lake on March 16, and later hosting them at home twice on April 6 and Aug. 3. The Rapids will host defending MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy on July 27 at 7 p.m. MT, and will take on the New York Red Bulls in their 18th annual 4THFEST celebration at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. RAPIDS PREPARE FOR 2013 SEASON WITH MATCHES IN TUCSON AND LAS VEGAS: The Colorado Rapids have currently scheduled four pre-season matches to give the players competitive action before the March 2 season opener at FC Dallas. The Rapids will face the Portland Timbers on Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. MT, the Houston Dynamo on Jan. 31 at 6 p.m., and the San Jose Earthquakes on Feb. 2 at 11 a.m., all part of The Desert Friendlies presented by FC Tucson. The squad will return to Denver for a week of training before then heading to Nevada to take on Chivas USA at 6:30 p.m. on Feb.15 in the Las Vegas ProSoccer Challenge.

HENDRY THOMAS AND MARVELL WYNNE SIGN NEW CONTRACTS: Last week, the Colorado Rapids re-signed two key players to new contracts: midfielder Hendry Thomas and defender Marvell Wynne. Thomas, a Honduran International who joined the Rapids in August of 2012, started the team's final eight games of the season, playing the full 90 in seven. Wynne has been a member of the Rapids since just before the 2010 season and has played 84 regular season games for Colorado, as well as every post-season game since joining the squad. Wynne and Thomas will return in 2013 to join off-season signings forward Edson Buddle and defender Diego CalderÃ"n, and midfielders Atiba Harris and Nathan Sturgis who were acquired through trades.
