Weekend Wrap Up: Chill Sweep Springfield

Springfield 2 @ Coulee Region 3 (SO) - Jimmy Thomas made 40 saves through regulation and overtime, then stopped six of eight shooters in the shootout as the Chill completed a weekend home sweep of Springfield with a 3-2 win after a 16-man shootout. Blake Kelley had a goal in regulation and also scored the shootout-winner. Jackson Charlesworth had the other Chill goal. Springfield got goals in regulation from Brady Lomlak and Cameron Cooper. Niko Dellamaggorie made 27 saves in the loss.

Wichita Falls 3 @ Wenatchee 1 - Austin Shaw made 26 saves as the Wildcats moved into sole possession of 2 nd place in the South Division with a 3-1 win over the Wild, which completed a weekend sweep in Wenatchee. The Wildcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1 st period thanks to goals from Mason Corliss, who scored his 1 st NAHL goals, and also Austin Beaulieu. Wenatchee cut the lead to 2-1 midway through the 3 rd period on a goal from Jake Ahlgren, but an empty-net goal from Colin Staub secured the win.

Brookings 1 @ Minot 2 - Tanner Holmes made 19 saves as the division-leading Minotauros picked up their second win of the weekend thanks to a 2-1 home triumph over the visiting Blizzard. After a scoreless 1 st period, Minot did all of their scoring in the 2 nd period as John Snodgrass and Johnny Walker lit the lamp. Brookings got their lone goal in the 3 rd period from Alex Copa, but could not find the equalizer. Ryan Kubic played well in the loss, making 30 saves.

Austin 4 @ MN Magicians 1 - Former NAPHL goalie Evan Smith picked up his first NAHL win as he made 24 saves in a 4-1 road win in Minnesota against the Magicians. Austin started the game strong with two goals in the 1 st period from Tony Uglem and Luke Dietsch. The lead swelled to 3-0 as former NA3HL forward Travis Kothenbeutel scored for Austin early in the 2 nd period. The Magicians got their lone goal later in the 2 nd period from Thomas Delaney. Cory Dunn added a 3 rd period goal for the Bruins. Former NAPHL goalie Cole Weaver made 24 saves in the loss.

Michigan 0 @ Janesville 3 - Goalie Matt Jurusik posted his second shutout in as many weekend's as the netminder made a season-high 36 saves in a 3-0 home shutout of the Warriors, which completed a weekend sweep of Michigan. After a scoreless 1 st period, The Jets opened the scoring in the 2 nd period with two goals from Grant Hutton and Mitch Fossier. Adam Winborg added a late 3 rd period empty-net goal. Ryan Wischow made 27 saves in the loss for Michigan.

Soo 2 @ MN Wilderness 8 - The Wilderness completed a weekend sweep of the Eagles as the offense came alive with eight goals on 53 shots in an 8-2 win. Michael Covach and Tyler Cline each scored twice for the Wilderness. Minnesota also got goals from Dairan Romanko, Niklas Lehtimaki, Brett Heikkila and Billy Exell. The Eagles goals came from Sandis Zolmanis and Keegan Miller. Ryan Anderson played will in the win, making 20 saves. Defenseman Ivan Chukarov also played well in the win, picking up three assists and posting a +4 rating.

Lone Star 2 @ Amarillo 3 - A late 3 rd period goal from Cody Gylling gave the Amarillo Bulls a 3-2 win, which completed a weekend home sweep of the Brahmas. The Bulls struck first with the only goal in the 1 st period as Joe Leonidas lit the lamp. The teams then traded goals in the 2 nd and 3 rd periods as Trent Dillinger scored in the 2 nd period for the Bulls and Ludvig Larsson and Hunter Stanley scored for the Brahmas. Anton Martinsson picked up the win for Amarillo, making 21 saves.

Johnstown 1 @ Keystone 2 (SO) - In one of the longest shootouts in NAHL history, the Keystone Ice Miners outlasted the Johnstown Tomahawks in a 20-round, 40-man shootout to earn a weekend home-and-home split with a 2-1 win. Brady Bender scored in regulation for Johnstown and Jon Hall scored in regulation for Keystone. Jacob Coleman finally scored the shootout winner as the 20 th shooter for Keystone. Alex Blankenburg picked up the win making 28 saves and also stopped 17 of 20 shooters in the shootout. Ryan Bednard was also good in the loss, making 31 saves and stopping 16 of 20 shooters in the shootout.

Bismarck 6 @ Aberdeen 4 - Tanner Salsberry and Cullen Willox both had big nights as the Bobcats continued their dominance over the Wings with a 6-4 win in Aberdeen. Willox and Logan Rivard scored in the 1 st period for Bismarck, while Evan Giesler added a 2 nd period goal and Cole Souto, Jared Spooner and Willox all scored in the 3 rd period. Aberdeen got two goals from Colin O'Neill and others from Michael Soucier and Collin Hughes. Hunter Shepard played well in the win, making 37 saves.

Rio Grande Valley 3 @ Odessa 4 - New goalie Tanner Creel made 43 saves to lift the Jackalopes to a 4-3 home win over Rio Grande Valley, which snapped Odessa's losing skid and earned them a weekend home split. Kenny Hausinger picked up three assists for Odessa, who got their goals from Corey Hoffman in the 1 st period and Hampus Sjodahl, Derek Brown and Christian Hausinger in the 2 nd period. Wayland Williams, Adem Arifi and Chris Deprez scored for the Killer Bees in the loss.
