Albert Lea Thunder News Release
Both teams would head to the dressing rooms after a scoreless 1st period looking to solve the other team's net-minder. Both David Bosner and Tom Lescovich stopped every shot the opposition put on them but the second period would be another story, at least for the Thunder's Tom Lescovich.
Bismarck's Cody Keefer would get the scoring started early when on the powerplay at 2:44 he found a way to beat Tom Lescovich to put the Cats up 1-0. Assists going to Alex Gerke and Nicholas Jensen. Then at 8:15 of the period Tim Serratore would make it 2-0 Bismarck assisted by Will Aide and at
11:55 Brad Tremel would make it 3-0 with a single helper going to Casey Kleisinger.
That was all that the Bobcats would need this night to put Albert Lea away.
Neither team found the net in the 3rd period as Bismarck would skate to a 3-0 victory behind a 15 save performance from goaltender David Bosner.
At Albert Lea's end Tom Lescovich made 41 saves in the loss as the Bobcats out-shot Albert Lea 44-15.
While Friday nights game would only see 3 total goals, Saturday night things would open up. A total of 12 pucks would find the net, unfortunately for the Thunder, 10 of them would come from the sticks of the Bobcats.
In the 1st period just 53 seconds in the Bobcats would get the scoring started and they would score at will the rest of the night. In the period Bismarck would get goals from Joel Lundstrom and Jordan Singer. Shots on goal in the first period were 17-9 in favor of Bismarck.
In the second Bismarck would unload. Goals from Kevin Harris, Nicholas Jensen, Cody Keefer and Jordan Singer would make it 6-0 Bobcats. But the Thunder would show heart and at 19:52 BJ McClellan would beat Bobcat's net minder Matt Grogan to get Albert Lea on the board. The period would end with Bismarck holding onto a 6-1 lead. Shots on goal in the 2nd were 18-7 in favor of Bismarck.
The 3rd period would start off a little rough as the two teams would engage in a line brawl at 2:54 of the period. 7 players would get tossed from the game, 3 from Bismarck and 4 from Albert Lea. Once the yard sale was over, the Thunder would bang back for another goal at the 8:34 mark as Nikita Feoktistov would score to make it 6-2 Bobcats. But Bismarck would get 3 goals from John Wickman and a goal from Kevin Harris to make it a 10-2 final.
In the end the Thunder were outshot 52-23 and were 0 for 6 on the powerplay while Bismarck would go 2 for 10 with the man advantage. With the loss the Thunder would drop to 4-45-4 on the year while Bismarck would improve to 37-13-2, good for the 3rd best record in the NAHL.
The Thunder return home for back to back games on the 20th and 21st of March against the Bobcats before hitting the road the next weekend playing Friday at North Iowa, Saturday at Alexandria and Sunday back at North Iowa to close out the season.
The two home games for Albert Lea will start at 7:00pm.
