Week Six XFL Power Rankings

March 31, 2023 - XFL (XFL)
Week six of the XFL season concluded with road teams flipping the script with three victories. The Seattle Sea Dragons held on over the Orlando Guardians, the St. Louis Battlehawks dominated the Vegas Vipers, and the San Antonio Brahmas' defense and special teams helped them defeat the Arlington Renegades. The only home team to win? The undefeated North Division leader D.C. Defenders who took their showdown with the first place team in the South, the Houston Roughnecks.
Week seven starts Friday with the 4-2 Seattle Sea Dragons at the Arlington Renegades. Saturday starts with the 2-4 San Antonio Brahmas at 1-5 Vegas Vipers and then sees the 6-0 D.C. Defenders at 0-6 Orlando Guardians. Sunday's lone game is a big one as the 4-2 St. Louis Battlehawks try to keep the 4-2 Houston Roughnecks reeling.
The Power Rankings after week six:
1. D.C. Defenders 6-0
The D.C. Defenders only ran for 20 yards in the first half against the Houston Roughnecks, but QB Jordan Ta'amu and the passing game stepped up in their victory. His quarterback play has improved every week making it challenging for opposing defenses to defend both the run and the pass.
2. Seattle Sea Dragons 4-2
After the Defenders, Seattle is the second hottest team in the XFL, riding a four-game winning streak. The offense only turned the ball over once last week, and special teams has blocked three punts the past two games.
3. Houston Roughnecks 4-2
The Roughnecks hope to bounce back after suffering two straight losses to Seattle and D.C. They need to beat St. Louis this week to regain some momentum. Cole McDonald might see more playing time at quarterback thanks to his mobility and a strong fourth quarter against D.C.
4. St. Louis Battlehawks 4-2
The Battlehawks had their most complete game on both sides of the ball with a 29-6 victory over the Vegas Vipers. A.J. McCarron's play at quarterback has been outstanding, completing 67% of his passes including 19 in a row at one point against Vegas.
5. Arlington Renegades 3-3
The Renegades released Kyle Sloter and hope acquiring Luis Perez from the Vipers can upgrade the quarterback position. Their offense has had problems scoring with only six offensive touchdowns all season long. A powerful defense has kept them in the hunt.
6. San Antonio Brahmas 2-4
The Brahmas kept their season alive with a win over the Arlington Renegades. They hope with a full week of practice, quarterbacks Jawon Pass and Kurt Benkert can be more productive against the Vipers. Like Arlington, their strength lies on defense.
7. Vegas Vipers 1-5
With the Vipers trading Luis Perez to the Arlington Renegades this week, they will start Jalan McClendon over Brett Hundley against the Brahmas. Can McClendon give them a spark on offense?
8. Orlando Guardians 0-6
Despite being winless, the Guardians have been competitive the past two losses against the Vipers and Sea Dragons. They will have an even tougher challenge this week against the best team in the XFL, the D.C. Defenders.
