April 7, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League is excited to announce the Week Six Vidswap.com Players of the Week. The talents of the best indoor football players in America were on full display as this week's competition continued to increase and we near the midway point of the season. Each week the IFL will select three players, one from each phase of the game, offense, defense, and specials teams, whose play on the field stood out among the rest of the competition. Eight games were featured in the sixth weekend of play and the following player's performances propelled them to Week Six Vidswap.com Players of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week: QB Julian Reese, Amarillo Venom
Julian Reese and the undefeated Amarillo Venom (3-0) have been phenomenal in their first year as members of the Indoor Football League. However, Reese is no rookie as this is his 6th season of professional indoor football. In a Week Six 71-20 blowout victory over the Austin Turfcats, Reese completed 20 of 23 passes for 269 yards and 7 TD's. On the season, Reese continues to be extremely accurate and efficient as he leads the league in completion percentage (76%) and quarterback rating (145.3). The Venom will continue to rely on the prolific play of Reese when they host the Corpus Christi Hammerheads in Week Seven.
Defensive Player of the Week: LB Jemeel Brady, Alaska Wild
Three truly is the magic number for the Alaska Wild in 2010. The Wild have lost three games this year all by one point. In a tough loss to rival Fairbanks Grizzlies 31-30, LB Jemeel Brady and the rest of the Wild battled valiantly. Brady was a standout as he disrupted plays in the Grizzlies backfield tallying 4.5 tackles, of which 4 were for loss, and 2 sacks. The Wild will look to get back in the winning circle when they travel to take on the Kent Predators in Week Seven.
Special Teams Player of the Week: KR Coco Blalock, Arkansas Diamonds
Coco Blalock turned in a spectacular performance in the return game in Week Six to propel the Diamonds to a 35-21 victory over the Corpus Christi Hammerheads. The victory improved the Diamonds to a Lonestar East Division leading 4-1. Blalock totaled 114 yards on 3 returns including a 57 yard return for a touchdown. On the season he has accounted for 313 yards in the return game, good for 3rd in the league. Blalock and the rest of the Diamonds will have a week to celebrate this victory as they have a bye in Week Seven.
The IFL season continues with Week Seven on Friday April 9th when the Alaska Wild travel to take on the Kent Predators. You can view live broadcasts of IFL games all season long at www.b2livetv.com.
