FRIDAY'S GAMES
Tennessee Valley 66, BOSSIER CITY 55 (Attendance: 3,789): Ironman of the Game RONNEY DANIELS had seven receptions for 136 yards and three touchdowns as the undefeated Vipers (5-0) beat the Battle Wings (2-4). Quarterback MATT SAUK, game MVP, completed 26-of-34 passes for 288 yards and 6 touchdowns, improving the Vipers' overall record against the Battle Wings to 3-1.
SATURDAY'S GAMES:
Albany 69, CINCINNATI 35 (Attendance: 3,893): Quarterback RYAN VENA tossed six touchdowns and rushed for two more, as the Conquest (4-1) dominated the Swarm (3-3). Defensive specialist JOHN STUART, named the ADT Defensive Player of the Game, had two interceptions including one in the endzone in the fourth quarter.
NORFOLK 46, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 32 (Attendance: 3,813): Offensive specialist TRAVIS BURNS caught nine passes for 108 yards and four touchdowns, including two scores in the first half as Nighthawks (3-2) built a 29-6 halftime lead over the Pioneers (1-5). Game MVP AARON SPARROW completed 25-of-34 passes for 269 yards and six touchdowns.
RICHMOND 62, Rochester 43 (Attendance: 3,212): Game MVP ROY JOHNSON had a career night as he completed 18-of-25 passes for 219 yards and a career high 8 touchdowns as he Speed (3-2) defeated the Brigade (1-5). The Speed had 3 receivers with 3 touchdowns, including DAMON THOMPSON who had 8 receptions for 115 yards. The Speed had no turnovers in the game and scored 21 unanswered points before halftime. Macon 49, COLUMBUS 17 (Attendance: 3,651): Game MVP JACQUES RUMPH caught three touchdown passes, and Ironman of the Game ANTHONY SNEAD had two touchdown catches, as the Knights (5-1) rolled past the Wardogs (2-3). The Knights' defense held Columbus to 126 yards of total offense.
CAPE FEAR 36, Greensboro 35 (Attendance: 5,103): A missed extra-point attempt allowed the Wildcats (4-1) to hold on against the Prowlers (3-3). Game MVP ANTHONY HINES had one receiving touchdown and a 53-yard kick return for a score for Cape Fear. The Prowlers out-gained the Wildcats by 134 yards (249-115).
CHARLESTON 45, Florida 42 (Attendance: 2,648): Offensive specialist TERRANCE QUATTLEBAUM hauled in an eight-yard touchdown with 19.5 seconds remaining in regulation, leading the Swamp Foxes (3-3) past the Firecats (2-4). Defensive specialist DEMONT SMITH, named ADT Defensive Player of the Game, tallied his eighth interception of the season for Charleston.
ARKANSAS 50, Memphis 42 (Attendance: 6,430): Fullback/Linebacker REGGIE COOLEY, named Ironman of the game, rushed for 59 yards and three scores as the Twisters (3-3) edged the Xplorers (1-5). Memphis' KEVIN PRENTISS caught seven passes for 114 yards and three touchdowns to lead all receivers in the game.
Louisville 40, BIRMINGHAM 37 (Attendance: 5,706): MARC SAMUEL'S 26-yard field goal with three seconds remaining in regulation busted a 37-37 tie in the Fire's (3-3) favor. The Steeldogs (3-3) led 27-17 at halftime, before being outscored 23-10 the rest of the way.
Peoria 41, GREEN BAY 37 (Attendance: 3,026): Game MVP JACK WALKER'S 24-yard touchdown reception with six seconds left in regulation saved the Pirates (2-4) from a furious Blizzard (0-5) comeback bid. The Pirates led 34-10 before Green Bay scored 27 unanswered points in the second half. TULSA 65, San Diego 38 (Attendance: 5,166): Game MVP TACOMA FOUNTAINE caught four of quarterback CRAIG STRICKLAND'S seven touchdown passes as the Talons (5-1) coasted past the Riptide (3-3). Fontaine totaled 302 all-purpose yards, which is the third highest total in Talons' history. EDDIE MILLER caught three passes for 108 yards and three touchdowns for the Riptide.
Quad City 62, WICHITA 56 (Attendance: 5,447): The Steamwheelers (4-2) used a goal-line stand in the final seconds to hold on against the Stealth (4-2). Steamwheelers OS IRA GOOCH had 11 catches for 189 yards with four touchdowns, and he returned eight kickoffs for 208 yards and one touchdown, ending the night with 397 all-purpose yards, the second highest ever in a single game.
HAWAII 50, Bakersfield 48 (Attendance: 2,937): ADT Defensive Player of the Game EDDIE KLANESKI stopped CHAD ELLIOTT'S two-point conversion rush attempt with five seconds left in the game, lifting the Islanders (4-2) over the Blitz (1-5) and back into first place of the West division. Game MVP JOSH WHITE tied an af2 record with five rushing touchdowns for the Islanders.
