Week One: Players of the Week

FRISCO, Texas - The Indoor Football League announced its first Players of the Week for week one with two coming from the Green Bay Blizzard and one from the Massachusetts Pirates. Massachusetts kicked off its season at the Louisville Xtreme on Friday and Green Bay hosted the Bismarck Bucks on Saturday.

JUSTIN STOCKTON - OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Leading the charge on the ground for the Massachusetts Pirates, Justin Stockton ran for 89 yards on 11 attempts and recorded a touchdown against the Louisville Xtreme Saturday night. Stockton's four-yard touchdown run came at the start of the second quarter to extend the Pirates lead, 14-0. Stockton and the Pirates kept it rolling and went on to defeat the Xtreme, 49-18

MASON GRAY - DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mason Gray led Green Bay's defense against the Bismarck Bucks Friday night with his two interceptions that he grabbed in the third quarter, one of which he returned 10 yards for a touchdown. Gray also recovered a fumble in the endzone for his second touchdown along with recording six total tackles. Despite his efforts, the Blizzards fell in a heartbreaker to the Bucks, 41-35.

TREVON SAUNDERS - SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Trevon Saunders took the bulk of the kickoff returns for the Green Bay Blizzard Friday night with six for a total of 89 yards. His longest return came in the fourth quarter where Saunders took it 36 yards to Bismarck's 20-yard line, which would setup Green Bay for a touchdown to take the lead, 32-27, with 10:46 remaining. The Blizzards eventually fell to the Bucks, 41-35.

The Players of the Week will face off for its week two game as Stockton and the Pirates will hit the road to take on Gray, Saunders and the Blizzard on Sunday, May 2, at 3:05 p.m. CT.
