FRIDAY, APRIL 1
Florida Firecats 35, MACON KNIGHTS 32 (Attendance: 3,484)
MACON, Ga. - Chris Wallace completed 19-of-33 passes for 176 yards and four touchdowns, including the game winner with seven seconds remaining, to lead the Florida Firecats (1-0) past the Macon Knights (0-1) 35-32 Friday night at the Macon Coliseum. Wallace was named Offensive Player of the Game and threw three touchdowns to Magic Benton, who led the Firecats' receivers with nine catches for 74 yards. Hosea Laney was the ADT Defensive Player of the Game for Macon, recording a game-high nine and a half tackles. Matt Jackson earned Ironman recognition with a 6.5 tackle, one interception, 75 yards receiving, and one touchdown performance.
WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON PIONEERS 59, Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz 47 (Attendance: 5,105)
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -Offensive Player of the Game J.R. Thomas pulled in five touchdown passes and recorded 172 yards receiving as the Pioneers (1-0) defeated Oklahoma City (0-1) at Wachovia Arena Friday night. The visiting Yard Dawgz were led by Craig Strickland who tossed for 281 yards and four scores and Jarrel Jackson who caught nine passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Gana Joseph picked off two passes in a losing effort for Oklahoma City. Kyle Rowley guided the Pioneer's offense, completing 17-of-24 passes for 266 yards and seven touchdowns. Ameer Riley was ADT Defensive Player of the Game with two tackles, a pass break-up and an interception. Demetrius Austrum earned Ironman honors, recording three tackles, one and a half for a loss, a half sack, and a rushing touchdown.
AMARILLO DUSTERS 62, Tulsa Talons 55 (Attendance: 3,704)
AMARILLO, Texas. - Kendrick Walker returned a kick-off 50 yards early in the fourth quarter to spark a 28 point stanza from Amarillo, as the af2 newcomers overcame a 14 point deficit to defeat Tulsa 62-55. Craig Fulton Jr. caught the game-winning touchdown for the Dusters with just 1.2 seconds to play, but Walker's return proved to be the momentum changer Amarillo needed. Julian Reese passed for five touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Dusters offense. Josh Blankenship threw for seven scores and ran for one in his debut for the Talons.
SATURDAY, APRIL 2
Central Valley Coyotes 33, BAKERSFIELD BLITZ 20 (Attendance not available)
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Central Valley (1-0) recorded two safeties, a blocked field goal, a blocked extra point, and harassed Bakersfield's (0-1) quarterbacks into turning the ball over three times in a 33-20 victory at Rabobank Arena Saturday night. The Coyotes jumped out to a 31-7 lead entering the fourth quarter. Vai Notoa caught a touchdown and rushed for another for Central Valley and Juston Wood threw two touchdown passes. Chad Elliott led Bakersfield downfield for a touchdown on the first drive of the game but struggled to breakdown the Coyotes defense and was eventually relieved by Jason Thomas. The Blitz's Alex Wallace intercepted two passes in his debut.
SUNDAY, APRIL 3
Memphis Xplorers 63, BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT BATTLE WINGS 24 (Attendance: 1,301)
BOSSIER CITY, La. - Memphis scored the final 37 points of the game in a 63-24 victory over Bossier-Shreveport at the Century Tel Center Sunday afternoon. Brian Jones completed 20-of-32 passes for five scores to lead the Xplorer's offense. af2 rookie, Steve Azar connected on 7-of-7 PATs and hit 4-of-4 field goals with a long of 33 yards. Jones was named the game's Offensive Player of the Game, while Battle Wing FB/LB Joe Wesley distinguished himself with a game-high six tackles (including two sacks) to earn Defensive Player of the Game honors. Memphis WR/DB Terrence Quattlebaum earned Ironman honors, pulling down four receptions for 44 yards with two TD's while defending nicely on the other side of the ball. The Bossier defense came up with three sacks and five tackles for loss.
