Week Nine Players of the Week announced

Omaha, NE - United Indoor Football is pleased to announce that James Walton, Mark Blackburn and Peter Christofilakos have been named the three Players of the Week for week nine. Walton led the Bloomington Extreme offense to a victory over the Ohio Valley Greyhounds to receive Offensive Player of the Week, while Christofilakos led the Extreme special teams. Blackburn of the Sioux Falls Storm was voted as the Defensive Player of the Week for his play against the Omaha Beef.

James Walton (BLO) had nine receptions for 120 yards and five touchdowns. Four of Walton's five TD's came in the second quarter. The Extreme will be on the road in a very important Eastern Conference match-up Friday as they are currently 4-3 and will be taking on the Rock River Raptors who are 5-3.

Mark Blackburn (SFS) had 10.5 tackles, one tackle for loss, one fumble recovery, one interception for a touchdown and two pass break ups. Blackburn currently leads the league with 63 total tackles. This week the Storm have a bye before visiting the Colorado Ice on June 2.

Peter Christofilakos (BLO), in his first game back after playing for the Arena Football League (AFL) Arizona Rattlers franchise, had a solid UIF return converting 7-of-7 PATs and kicking 3-of-5 FGs from 34, 28 and 25 yards respectively. The Extreme defeated the Greyhounds 60-41 in front of the largest crowd of the season: 6,387.

Receiving Week Nine Honorable Mentions are: Offense, Patrick Hall II (ROC); Defense, Dorian Pitts (BLO); and Special Teams, Doug Daniel (ROC).
