March 24, 2023 - XFL (XFL)

The XFL has reached the halfway point of the season with title contenders beginning to see some separation from the pack. At home the Seattle Sea Dragons defeated the Houston Roughnecks and the Vegas Vipers held on against the Orlando Guardians. Two road teams scored victories as the D.C. Defenders topped the St. Louis Battlehawks and the Arlington Renegades outlasted the San Antonio Brahmas.

Week six starts Saturday with the 3-2 Seattle Sea Dragons at the 0-5 Orlando Guardians and the 3-2 St. Louis Battlehawks visiting the 1-4 Vegas Vipers. Sunday's lone game has the 1-4 San Antonio Brahmas in a rematch at the 3-2 Arlington Renegades. Monday night features the best matchup of the week with the 4-1 Houston Roughnecks paying a visit to the 5-0 D.C. Defenders

The Power Rankings after week two:

1. D.C. Defenders 5-0

D.C. scored an impressive road victory in front of a big crowd in St. Louis. The offensive line is starting to gel which helped first pick in the XFL Draft Abram Smith have his best rushing game of the season with 218 yards. Look for the Defenders to run the football even more to keep the Houston Roughnecks high-powered offense off the field as much as possible.

2. Houston Roughnecks 4-1

The Roughnecks look to rebound after suffering their first loss of the XFL season against the Seattle Sea Dragons. With wide receiver Jontre Kirkland out for the remainder of the season with a chest injury, others will have to step up to help fill that void.

3. Seattle Sea Dragons 3-2

Seattle hung on to top the undefeated Roughnecks thanks to their defense creating two turnovers and special teams blocking two punts. Playing at the Orlando Guardians this week is the perfect setting for their offense to put up lots of points as most XFL teams have done against Orlando.

4. St. Louis Battlehawks 3-2

With the Battlehawks losing both games against the Defenders, securing first place in the North Division might be out of reach. They hope to get back on track against a Vipers defense that has given up 134 points, the second most in the XFL behind Orlando.

5. Arlington Renegades 3-2

Look no further than the defense as the reason the Renegades were able to defeat San Antonio. They forced three interceptions. Reinforcements are on the way to help a struggling offense with the addition of USFL Championship MVP, wide receiver Victor Bolden.

6. Vegas Vipers 1-4

Finally, Vipers Head Coach Rod Woodson earned his first victory as a head coach with victory at home over the Orlando Guardians. The Vipers hope to build on the momentum with a win against a physical St. Louis Battlehawks team.

7. San Antonio Brahmas 1-4

Offensively, the Brahmas offense continued to struggle, only putting up 10 points in their loss to the Renegades. With Reid Sinnett out for the season with a broken foot, they signed former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert. They face a must win game at Arlington to keep playoff hopes alive.

8. Orlando Guardians 0-5

A positive note in their loss to the Vegas Vipers was the play of quarterback Quinten Dormady, who should get the starting job over the struggling Paxton Lynch. Orlando's defense, surrendering an average of 30 points per game, faces the challenge of slowing down the Seattle Sea Dragons run-and-shoot offense.
