Published on April 20, 2016 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 9 of the 2016 IFL season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Caleb Holly (WR, Sioux Falls Storm)

The Sioux Falls Storm clipped the wings of the Wichita Falls Nighthawks Saturday night at the Denny Sanford Premier Center 71-44. In defeating the Nighthawks, the Storm move to 6-1 on the season and remain atop the United Conference.

History was made during the game however, as Storm WR Caleb Holley tied an IFL single game record with five touchdown receptions against the Nighthawks. Holley(6'3, 200, East Central) was electric from the beginning of the game as he snagged three touchdown passes from QB Lorenzo Brown in the first quarter alone. Holley finished the night with a perfect catch to touchdown ratio as he caught five passes for 58 yards and five touchdowns. In two games with the Storm this season, Holley has quickly become the Storm's go-to weapon in the endzone as he has eight touchdown receptions in those two games. The Sioux Falls Storm travel to face the Nebraska Danger this week in a rematch of the 2015 United Bowl.

Honorable Mention: Lorenzo Brown (QB, Sioux Falls Storm), Mason Espinosa (QB, Billings Wolves), Lucas Hefty (WR/RB, Iowa Barnstormers), DeJuan Miller (WR, Tri-Cities Fever)

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nick Haag (LB, Spokane Empire)

The Spokane Empire continue to accumulate victories as they defeated the Iowa Barnstormers 54-34 last week and remain at the top of the Intense Conference with a 5-1 record. The Empire defense continues to be one of the best in the IFL as the team shut down the high-flying Iowa offense, holding the team to a season low 34 points. Key to that effort was the strong play of LB Nick Haag. Haag (6'3,240 Assumption) flew around the field all night long as he racked up a staggering 16 tackles against the Barnstormers including two for loss. The defensive leader of the Empire, Haag leads the team in tackles with 54 and is second on the team in tackles for loss with 8.5. Haag and the Empire will look to continue their strong play as they play in-state rival the Tri-Cities Fever this week.

Honorable Mention: Courtney Daniel (LB, Green Bay Blizzard), Rodney Gnat (DL, Wichita Falls Nighthawks), Jake Johnson (LB, Colorado Crush), Mikeil Mair (LB, Billings Wolves)

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nicholas Belcher (K, Cedar Rapids Titans)

In a matchup of IFL heavyweights it was the Cedar Rapids Titan who emerged victorious in the team's slim 51-50 victory over the Nebraska Danger. Titans K Nicholas Belcher is awarded his second IFL Special Teams Player of the Week nomination of the season for his clutch play against the 2015 Intense Conference Champion. Belcher (5'9, 175, South Carolina State) converted three of four field goals, with a long of 36 yards, and converted 4 of 5 extra points, the last of which was the deciding factor of the game. Belcher and the Titans take on the dangerous Wichita Falls Nighthawks in Week 10.

Honorable Mention: Rockne Belmonte (K, Wichita Falls Nighthawks), Trevor Kennedy (KR, Spokane Empire), Tyler Knight (LB, Sioux Falls Storm), O.J Simpson (KR, Nebraska Danger)
