FRIDAY'S GAMES
New York 63, CAROLINA 47 (Attendance: 6,279): After starting the season 0-6, TODD SHELL's Dragons (8-8) captured the Eastern Division title with the win over the Cobras (0-16). Game MVP AARON GARCIA became the first quarterback in professional football history to throw for 100 touchdowns in two different seasons (104 in 2001). The Dragons will host the Chicago Rush in the Wild Card Round next weekend.
Orlando 50, DETROIT 38 (Attendance: 9,478): Orlando QB JAY GRUDEN was the catalyst for the Predators (12-4) by throwing five touchdown passes on 14-of-24 passes for 230 yards against the playoff-bound Fury (8-8). The Predators secured the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye for next week's playoffs. Detroit will travel to Grand Rapids to face the No. 6 Rampage in the Wild Card Round.
SATURDAY'S GAME
SAN JOSE 47, Los Angeles 43 (Attendance: 15,407): San Jose QB MARK GRIEB tossed a 20-yard touchdown pass to JAMES HUNDON with 3:46 left in the fourth quarter giving the SaberCats (12-4) win over the Avengers (11-5) clinching the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs in addition to a fourth consecutive Western Division title. Los Angeles finished as the No. 4 seed and will receive a first-round bye.
SUNDAY'S GAMES
Tampa Bay 42, GEORGIA 38 (Attendance: 8,066): Tampa Bay FB/LB DAVID WHITE scored on a 1-yard touchdown plunge with 21 seconds remaining to give the Storm (12-4) the Southern Division title and No. 2 seed for the playoffs. The Storm will have a first-round bye, while No. 12 Georgia (8-8) travel to No. 5 Dallas next weekend.
Dallas 62, GRAND RAPIDS 51 (Attendance: 10,594): Dallas QB JIM KUBIAK connected on 29-of-39 passes for 345 yards and eight touchdowns as the Desperados (10-6) won the Central Division title and secured the No. 5 seed with the victory over Grand Rapids (8-8). Dallas will host No. 12 Georgia in the Wild Card Round, while No. 7 Grand Rapids hosts No. 10 Detroit next weekend.
Arizona 59, COLORADO 48 (Attendance: 17,417): Arizona QB SHERDRICK BONNER threw for 227 yards, seven touchdowns and no interceptions as the Rattlers (10-6) captured the No. 6 seed in the victory over Colorado (2-14). The Rattlers will host No. 11 Las Vegas in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs next weekend.
CHICAGO 46, Indiana 43, OT (Attendance: 13,375): Chicago kicker KEITH GISPERT hit a 16-yard field goal with 5:18 left in overtime to lift the Chicago Rush (8-8) into the playoffs with the win over Indiana (6-10). Rush OS ANTONIO CHATMAN, finished with 400 total all-purpose yards, setting an AFL single-season record with 3,678. The Rush will travel to play New York in the Wild Car Round next weekend.
LAS VEGAS 55, Buffalo 38 (Attendance: 9,701): Las Vegas QB TODD HAMMEL came off the bench and completed 11-of-14 passes for 138 yards and four touchdowns as the Gladiators (8-8) secured the No. 11 seed with the victory over Buffalo (5-11). The Gladiators will travel to No. 6 Arizona in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs next weekend.
