SHOCK'S RUN AT NO. 1 HITS RECORD 15 WEEKS: The Spokane Shock have maintained the No. 1 ranking of the Weekly Coaches Poll for a record 15th straight week, the arenafootball2 (af2) league office announced on Wednesday. Spokane collected 381 points of the possible 384 and 21-of-25 first place votes coming off the club's 69-22 home win in Week 13 over division and in-state rival Tri-Cities. The Shock, who have won all 11 of their games this season, will be hosting No. 11 Oklahoma City next week. Spokane's current 15-week stay at the top is the longest run at No. 1, breaking the record of 14 weeks previously set by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2007. Tulsa (11-1, 354 points, 2 first place votes) remained at No. 2 after their 66-54 road victory at Green Bay. The Talons have won 10 straight games. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (10-2, 334 points, 1 first place vote) remained at No. 3 this week after their 38-point home victory over Central Valley, 58-20. Tennessee Valley moved up to No. 4 after defeating Florida, 54-29. Boise (10-2, 292 points) rounds out the Top-5 this week, dropping one place after a narrow 57-54 home win against Stockton. This is the third straight week the Burn have been in the top five.
SCHULE ON THE RUN TO af2 RECORDS: Bossier-Shreveport FB JASON SCHULE is running over the af2 record books this season. The Louisiana Monroe alum, in his third season, set two league marks in the BattleWings' 79-29 home win against Corpus Christi in Week 11. Schule had 13 rushes for 112 yards with six rushing TDs against the Sharks. His rushing yards and rushing touchdowns totals both set af2 single-game records. Schule is the first player in league history to rush for at least 100 yards in an af2 game. Kenyatta Spruill set the previous league-high rushing yards standard in 2001 with 96 yards. Seven different players owned the previous af2 record for rushing touchdowns with five. Schule has now moved into second place on the af2 career rushing list with 1,189 yards and trails another former BattleWings player, Sherard Poteete, who has 1,346 yards. He currently leads the af2 in rushing yards in 2009 with 457 and ranks second in rushing TDs with 18. Schule is also just 43 yards shy of the league single-season record for rushing yards. Former Florida standout Steve Gorrie rushed for 500 yards in 2004.
ALLGOOD, HILL AND ROWLEY HAVE SIGHTS ON PASSING RECORDS: Veteran quarterbacks JUSTIN ALLGOOD (Tulsa) is on pace to break the league record for most touchdown passes in one season. The current record is 106 set by former Central Valley QB SCOTT RISLOV in 2006. Allgood has 85 TD passes through 12 games. Hill (3,445) and Arkansas QB KYLE ROWLEY (3,642) also have the single season passing yards record in their sights. D. Bryant set the current af2 standard with 4,680 passing yards in 2007 with South Georgia. The following is a breakdown of where Allgood, Hill and Rowley stand.

WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON'S HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE: Wachovia Arena, the home of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers, has become a visiting team's worst nightmare in recent years. The Pioneers have won 24 straight regular season home games, a streak that dates back to 2006. Counting the playoffs, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has won 28 of its last 29 home games. The last time the Pioneers lost a regular season home game was on July 8, 2006 when the Florida Firecats edged Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, 56-51. The next opportunity for the Pioneers to extend their current home win streak is in Week 17 when Wilkes-Barre/Scranton hosts Albany. While Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's current streak has been impressive, it hasn't yet approached the all-time best home win streak set by the Tulsa Talons at their previous home, the Tulsa Convention Center. The Talons won 26 consecutive regular-season home games from 2000-03. Tulsa won its final two home games of the 2000 season and 24 straight over the next three years.
ROLLINS, FAIROOZ, TAYLOR, GRIER, HARRIS earn Week 13 honors: Oklahoma City fullback/linebacker FREDDIE ROLLINS, Arkansas wide receiver AARON FAIROOZ and Mahoning Valley defensive back BRANDON TAYLOR have been named the JLS Ironman, Russell Athletic Offensive Player and Aaron's Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 13 of 2009, the af2's 10th anniversary season. In addition to these three awards, the af2 is also highlighting the player who makes the best catch and the best hit of the week. The Big Game Catch of the Week Award for Week 13 goes to Tennessee Valley wide receiver JEREMY GRIER and the NiFTy Hit of the Week is awarded to Rio Grande Valley defensive back DERRICK HARRIS.
Rollins (6-1, 245, Mary-Hardin Baylor), in his second af2 season, wins his first JLS Ironman of the Week Award, and takes home the first player of the week award for Oklahoma City this season. Rollins had a strong all-around effort for the Yard Dawgz in their record-setting Week 13 win against Corpus Christi. He finished with a game-high 61 yards rushing and two rushing TDs on 10 carries in the team's 93-41 home win. He also caught two passes for 29 yards, including a 25-yard TD reception with 47 seconds left in the second quarter to give the Yard Dawgz a 56-19 lead. On the defensive side of the ball, he recorded four solo tackles, all on kickoffs, to pin the Sharks back deep in their own territory. Rollins ranks fourth in the league in rushing yards (215) and is tied for fifth in rushing touchdowns with 14. Oklahoma City has won three straight games and currently stands in second place in the Central Division at 7-5. Fairooz (6-6, 218, Central Arkansas) had an impressive af2 debut with Arkansas in Week 13 to help the Twisters earn a one-point home win against Amarillo, 63-62. The rookie from Central Arkansas turned in one of the top performances of the week with 14 catches for 169 yards and five TDs, including a 23-yard score with 19 seconds remaining in the game that gave the Twisters the lead for good. Fairooz' fantastic first outing gives the Twisters hope they may have found a suitable replacement for Rod Harper, another well-regarded rookie who was leading the af2 in scoring and receiving before earning a recent NFL contract with the New Orleans Saints. With the win, the Twisters improved to 8-4 overall and continue to maintain their lead in the Southwest Division. Taylor (5-11, 180, New Hampshire), in his second season, had an impressive performance in Mahoning Valley's tough loss to the Manchester Wolves in Week 13. Despite the result (59-53 loss), Taylor was a defensive force with seven solo tackles, including one tackle for loss and set a new Thunder single-game record with three interceptions (55 INT return yards). The New Hampshire alum leads the team in tackles (67), interceptions (4) and fumble recoveries (2). He also ranks second on the squad with seven tackles for loss. This is the first Defensive Player of the Week Award of Taylor's career. With the loss, the Thunder slipped to 1-11 on the season. Grier (6-1, 208, Tennessee Chattanooga), in his third af2 season, is the Week 13 recipient of The Big Game Catch of the Week Award. This is Grier's first Big Game Catch of the Week Award. The Tennessee Chattanooga alum had 11 catches for 96 yards and a game-high three TDs in the Vipers' 54-29 Week home win against South Division rival Florida. One of his 11 grabs was a 12-yard beauty for a first down with just over three minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Sprinting down the left sideboard, Grier made a leaping, one-handed grab, hauling the ball in with his right hand. Grier has racked up 68 catches for 633 yards and 14 TDs for the Vipers this season. Tennessee Valley currently leads the South Division at 9-3. Harris (5-10, 185, Sam Houston St.), in his third af2 season, has been awarded the NiFTy Hit of the Week, a new weekly honor that highlights the player who makes the best hit or tackle of the week. The Dorados defensive back rocked Bossier-Shreveport WR Thyron Lewis with just over 20 seconds left to play in the first half of the team's Week 13 home game against the BattleWings. Harris connected with Lewis just as he hauled in a 6-yard pass, driving him straight back off the ground and onto the turf. Lewis still managed to hold onto the ball despite the jarring hit. Harris finished with 5.0 tackles on the night as Rio Grande Valley lost a heartbreaker at home, 59-56. The Sam Houston St. alum has 16.5 tackles, two interceptions and fjve pass breakups in eight games played for the Dorados (6-5) this season.
RECEIVERS ON RECORD PACE: Rio Grande Valley rookie WR ROD WINDSOR and Quad City veteran WR JESSE SCHMIDT are on pace to shatter many if not all of the af2's receiving and scoring records in 2009. In 12 games played, Schmidt leads the league in scoring (272 points), receiving yards (1,900), total touchdowns (45) and receiving touchdowns (45). Windsor, in 10 games played, leads the league in receptions (135) and ranks second in scoring (248 points), receiving yards (1,641), total touchdowns (40) and receiving touchdowns (40). The following is a breakdown of where the two players stand to date.

Wallace hit the 500-mark with a 15-yard strike to WR James Panui early in the fourth quarter. He reached another milestone last Saturday in Florida's Week 13 road loss at Tennessee Valley by becoming the first player to reach 25,000 career passing yards. Wallace currently holds af2 career records for touchdown passes (550), passing yards (25,158), completions (2,056) and attempts (3,438). He became the league's all-time passing yards leader in a 32-27 road win at Albany in Week 3. Wallace began his af2 career with the Carolina Rhinos in 2000. He played for the AFL's Orlando Predators in 2001 and 2003. Prior to joining the Firecats midway through the 2004 season, he played for the af2's Norfolk Nighthawks and Cape Fear Wildcats.
VENA PASSES LOFTY BENCHMARKS: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton QB RYAN VENA passed two impressive career milestones in the Pioneers' Week 2 home win against Albany - 20,000 passing yards and 400 touchdown passes. The veteran signal caller from Colgate, currently in his sixth af2 season (third with the Pioneers), joins CHRIS WALLACE and CRAIG STRICKLAND as the only quarterbacks in league history to reach those lofty totals. The af2's top three career passer totals for yards and touchdowns are shown below:

Currently the league has international athletes from 15 countries on team rosters. This past week (Week 13) 17 international players saw action around the league. Two players who stood out from the af2's international talent pool were Oklahoma City LB TITO JOSE (Nigeria) and Manchester OL RICHARD RANGLIN (Jamaica). Jose recorded three total tackles and scored two defensive touchdowns (16-yard fumble recovery TD, 10-yard interception return TD) to earn the Aaron's Defensive Player of the Game Award in the Yard Dawgz' 93-41 home win against Corpus Christi. Ranglin started at tight end for the Wolves and scored his second receiving touchdown of the season (10-yard score) in the team's 59-53 come-from-behind road win against Mahoning Valley.
IF THE SEASON ENDED TODAY - 2009 af2 PLAYOFF PICTURE: Sixteen teams qualify for the playoffs, eight from each conference (American and National). The eight qualifying teams in each conference consist of the three division champions and five Wild Cards, determined by best overall record.
