Published on May 28, 2014 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 14.
Offensive Players of the Week: Keithon Flemming (RB, Tri-Cities Fever)
The Fever (6-6) routed the Wyoming Cavalry (1-11), 94-30 over Memorial Day Weekend. The 94 points scored set a single game high for the 2014 IFL season. Tri-Cities has now won 5 of their last 6 games and is one of the hottest teams in the IFL. A big part of the offensive output on Saturday night came from RB Keithon Flemming (5'9, 200 lbs./West Texas A&M). This IFL vet turned in his best performance of the season racking up 103 yards on 13 carries and 3 TDs. Flemming currently ranks 4th in the IFL in rushing yards (411) and 6th in rushing scores (12). The Fever are clicking on all cylinders at the right time. However, a slow start to the season may doom the team for the second consecutive season. To have a chance at the postseason, the Fever have to win their final two games of the season and hope that the Colorado Ice (8-3) drop all 3 of their remaining games.
Honorable Mention: Samuel Charles (WR, Wyoming Cavalry) Willie Copeland (QB, Colorado Ice) Chris Dixon (QB, Sioux Falls Storm) Clinton Solomon (WR, Texas Revolution)
Defensive Player of the Week: Michael Eby (DB, Colorado Ice)
In what has quickly become one of the better rivalries in the IFL, the Colorado Ice (8-3) earned an important 41-28 road victory over the Nebraska Danger (9-3). The Ice have now swept the season series between the two teams (2-0) and control their own destiny to clinch the #1 seed in the Intense Conference. As it has done all season long, Colorado's #1 ranked defense (34.6 points per game) was stifling, holding Nebraska to nearly half of their average scoring output per game (52.6 points per game). The team's leader in the secondary is DB Michael Eby (6'1, 210 lbs./Eastern Oregon). Eby, in his 6th IFL season, was all over the field, registering 6 tackles, and an interception. His leadership proved significant as the team allowed reigning IFL MVP Jameel Sewell to complete only 48% of his passes (22 of 46). Next up for the Ice is road trip to take on the Cavalry.
Honorable Mention: Darnell Burks (DB, Cedar Rapids Titans) Kyle Jenkins (DL, Cedar Rapids Titans) Cory Johnsen (DL, Sioux Falls Storm) Brandon Wilson (LB, Tri-Cities Fever)
Special Teams Player of the Week: Parker Douglass (K, Sioux Falls Storm)
The Sioux Falls Storm (11-0) remained perfect on the season after a 69-42 victory over the Texas Revolution (2-9). The Storm led by just 3 points at halftime but outscored the Revs by 24 after intermission. Storm K Parker Douglass (5'10, 180 lbs./South Dakota State) once again takes home Special Teams Player of the Week honors, his 4th such award this season. Douglass was nearly perfect again in this contest, converting on both of his field goal attempts and 8 of 9 PATs for a total of 14 points. To date, Douglass has converted 67% of his field attempts and 93% of his PATs in 2014. He is the league's 3rd leading scorer with 116 total points. The Storm's quest for an undefeated season resumes this weekend versus the Nebraska Danger.
Honorable Mention: Tory Harrison (RB, Sioux Falls Storm) Lionell Singleton (KR, Tri-Cities Fever) Frankie Solomon Jr. (KR, Texas Revolution) Philip Welch (K, Colorado Ice)
