WBA adds Fort Worth as 2007 expansion team

Fort Worth, TX - The World Basketball Association (WBA) has formally announced that the Funky Town Star Prospects will be joining the WBA this season. The Star Prospects will be led onto the court in the WBA this season by former Sacramento King Jean-Paul Afif (6'9''-F-80, agency: World Sport Agency, college: Loyola Marymount ). Afif and the Star Prospects will make Fort Worth, Texas also known as "Funky Town" their home this season playing their home games at Fort Worth's Martin Luther King Center.

The Funky Town Star Prospects will join the WBA just prior to the halfway point this season and compete in 12 WBA contests, 6 of which will be played at the MLK Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Team Tryouts will be held Saturday, May 26th at Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas. Tryouts are only $60 and registration will begin at 9am. The WBA has been successful in having 60 former players go on to opportunities with the NBA via NBA summer leagues, individual NBA team workouts, and NBA pre-season and regular season roster spots.

The Star Prospects are also working out the terms of an agreement to use the facilities of Southern Methodist University for the team to be able to workout and conduct practices on the SMU campus. All 12 roster spots for the Star Prospects are open to competition and the team will use this tryout to field the team.
