Washington Wild Things News Release
WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Wild Things scored six runs on four hits and two errors by Lake Erie in the seventh after entering the frame down 3-1, and eventually held on to grab their fourth comeback victory of the season. With the 9-4 win, the Wild Things have evened the series and have won eight of 10.
Lake Erie scored a singular run in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings against Washington starter John Havird, who ended up with a quality start, tossing seven innings of three-run ball. He fanned seven and allowed six hits.
Washington plated its first run on a groundout by JJ Fernandez in the sixth, before scoring the six runs in the seventh to give it the lead. Blake Adams, Cameron Baranek, who'd add a two-run single in the eighth to extend the Wild Things' lead to the final of 9-4, Hector Roa, JJ Fernandez and Mikael Mogues all drove in at least one in the seventh, with Roa plating two with a base hit.
John Havird got the win to go to 4-2, while Lake Erie's Pat Ledet took the loss, his third. The series now shifts to a rubber game tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Eric Morell, a righty, will pitch for Washington and be opposed by left hander Jake Repavich.
