Warriors' Tracey Named WHL On the Run Player of the Week

Calgary, Alta. - The Western Hockey League announced today that Moose Jaw Warriors forward Brayden Tracey has been named the WHL On the Run Player of the Week for the week ending February 24, 2019.

Tracey, a prospect for the 2019 NHL Draft recorded 11 points (6G-5A) and a plus-five rating in four games this week as the Warriors went 3-1-0-0 after circling the East Division.

Monday against Prince Albert, Tracey scored the Warriors' second and third goals on the power play and assisted on Moose Jaw's first goal at even strength. On Friday night in Swift Current, Tracey aided the Warriors in a 4-2 victory over the Broncos with two goals and was awarded the third star of the game.

Tracey's success continued on Saturday when hosting the Regina Pats. Scoring one goal and adding in two assists, Tracey was given the second star of the game as the Warriors defeated the Pats 5-2. On Sunday, Tracey put up three points in the form of one powerplay goal and two powerplay assists, beating the Kootenay ICE 5-1.

With 73 points (31G-42A) in 58 games, Tracey has taken the WHL by storm in his rookie season. The 11-point week placed the Calgary, Alta. native into a tie for 10th place overall in WHL scoring this season and first overall among all WHL rookies.

Tracey was selected in the first round, 21st overall, at the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. In 63 career WHL regular season games, Tracey has tallied 75 points (31G-44A), including 11 power-play goals and 10 game-winning goals. The 17-year-old has also been identified by NHL Central Scouting for selection at the 2019 NHL Draft, giving him a 'C' rating on their updated 'Players to Watch' List in January 2019.

Internationally, Tracey has also represented Canada, winning a silver medal at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. He also played for Team Alberta at the 2016 WHL Cup, winning a gold medal.

Returning to action Tuesday, February 26 (7:00 p.m. CT), Tracey and the Warriors will host the Red Deer Rebels at Mosaic Place.
