RENO, Nev. - The Santa Cruz Warriors fell to the Reno Bighorns 104-89 Tuesday night in a game where every Warriors player on the active roster scored.
The Warriors were paced by Hilton Armstrong, who scored 15 points on 7-of-7 shooting and grabbed nine boards. Stefhon Hannah had the lone double-double of the night with 14 points and a game-high 10 assists.
Reno was led by Samardo Samuels, who scored a game-high 21 points. Darnell Jackson scored 16 and grabbed eight rebounds, while Desmon Farmer scored 14.
The Warriors raced out to a ten point lead early in the first quarter, but Reno ended the quarter on a 15-1 run to go ahead by 10 and never looked back. Early in the third, the Warriors cut Reno's lead to just four, but Reno extended its lead by as much as 22 in the fourth. Despite a Santa Cruz surge late in the game, the Warriors were unable to mount a comeback.
Reno shot 48.1% from the field, while Santa Cruz shot 43.9%. The Bighorns held the edge on the rebound battle (43-42), assists (26-22) and committed fewer turnovers (22-15).
The Warriors will play the Bakersfield Jam in Bakersfield for the first game of a back-to-back on Friday. After Friday's game, both teams will travel to Santa Cruz for the regular season finale on Saturday at 7:00 at the Kaiser Permanente Arena. The two games between the Warriors and the Jam will decide which team wins the West Division and has a higher seed in the playoffs.
Fans can listen to the broadcast on the Santa Cruz Warriors flagship station, KION 1460AM/101.1FM, or stream it online through the NBA D-League's YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/nbadleague.
