Walls in Place at Soul Training Camp

PHILADELPHIA (February 23, 2011) - After the addition of pads yesterday, practice took another step closer to the 'arena' aspect of Arena Football with the addition of side walls at the NovaCare Complex. Veterans could be heard instructing rookies not to run out of bounds during the four prior days of camp. Soul defenders Mike Brown (5-10, 185, Charleston Southern) and DeJuan Alfonzo (6-0, 205, Indiana State) used this to their advantage by closing in on receivers and finishing with a hard wall tackle.
CAMPBELL IS MMM, MMM GOOD! Defensive lineman Darrell Campbell (6'4, 300, Notre Dame) is providing experience and leadership for the 2011 Soul. In 2008, Campbell played for the Orlando Predators where he recorded 19 total tackles, one and a half sacks, and one fumble recovery during his eight games. He also spent time with three NFL teams, the Baltimore Ravens (2010), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2006), and Chicago Bears (2004). The former Fighting Irishman was a three-year starter and three-time letter winner while playing both defensive tackle and defensive end.
DID YOU KNOW Nyere Aumaitre's nickname is 'IHOP', because he is known for 'pancaking' defensive linemen. This is when Aumaitre gets leverage on a defender to drive him off his feet, into the air, onto the ground, and finishing the block by landing on top of him. The Camden, NJ native graduated from the University of Iowa and is a Woodrow Wilson High School alum.
