Walker Resigns, Correa Promoted to Lead Gold Sox in 2017

Marysville, CA. General Manager Michael Mink has announced the hiring of Dallas Correa, Assistant Baseball Coach from Hawaii Pacific University as the new Manager for the Marysville Gold Sox. The news coming after the resignation of Mike Walker after a 29-28 record in the inaugural season of the Great West League. "Unfortunately, I'm unable to continue my tenure as Manager of the Marysville Gold Sox," Walker stated. "I wish nothing but the best for the organization and hope to see them challenge for the GWL title in 2017." "Mike through his hard work this season continued 14 consecutive winning seasons of Gold Sox Baseball, "Said GM Mink. "I know personally how hard he worked and cared about this community." He will be greatly missed by everyone and we wish him nothing but success," Mink Stated on behalf of the organization.

Going into its second season in the very competitive Great West League, Mink looked no further than in the poised and eager assistant coach out of Hawaii. "I am honored and it is a great privilege to be able to take over the Manager position for the Marysville Gold Sox," Correa said. "I would like to thank all of our owners especially Michael Mink for this opportunity. I have been preparing for this moment and look forward to bringing my philosophy and vision of success to the Gold Sox Organization, its fans, and the Yuba-Sutter Counties, "said Correa. "Dallas brings a great background and undying work ethic to the organization. He will surprise a lot of people with his technical aspects of the game and abilities to manage the type of player we are focused on bringing in this season," said Mink.

Correa, an All-state and All-Conference catcher out of St. Louis High School on the island of Oahu, was a Pre-season Under Armor All-American and went on to play Collegiality at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. In Correa's four years at Pacific, he graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Biochemistry and is on his way to Graduating in the Spring of 2017 with his Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Hawaii Pacific University.

Currently in his 2nd Season with the Hawaii Pacific University Sharks Baseball team under the direction of long time Head Coach and mentor Garett Yukumoto, Correa assists in recruiting and scheduling, and is in charge of strength and conditioning, academics, and the catchers.

In a phone interview Monday, Correa discussed how he will practice two things he believes is key to any successful program. "I think you need to recruit premium talent from across the nation and second develop that talent. The goal is to send these student athletes back to their respective universities better than when they arrived." With that being said Correa has already got a move on the recruiting process and the Gold Sox will be announcing numerous signees within the next few weeks.

The Gold Sox will be back in late May with great promotions and new events to look forward to as they look to capture their first ever title in the Great West League. Thank you to the fans and partners for your continuous support. Go Gold Sox!
