Jack Walker Jr., a veteran player with experience in the AFL, AF2, and CFL, has agreed to join the Dodge City Law coaching staff as the wide receivers and special teams coach.

After playing college football for four years at Kent State, Walker signed a contract to play professional football with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL in 1997. From 1998 to 2000 Walker played with the Iowa Barnstormers in the AFL. Walker followed his time with the Barnstormers with stints with the New York Dragons, Pensacola Barracudas, Peoria Pirates, and Carolina Cobras. From 2005 to 2007, Walker played for the Quad City Steamwheelers. In 2008, Walker returned to the Iowa Barnstormers before making a second stop in Quad City to play with the Steamwheelers in 2009. Walker played his final year of professional football with the Orlando Predators in 2013 before retiring in August.

During his long career, Walker caught passes from some high-profile quarterbacks including Doug Flutie, Kurt Warner, and Aaron Garcia.

Walker ranks as one the best players in AF2 history and is in the top-five in four different all-time record categories including the most points, most receptions, most yards, and most touchdowns. In 2003, Walker set the AF2 record for the most touchdowns in a season and was a first-team All-Arena selection and the runner-up for the AF2 Player of the Year award.

In 2007, while with Quad City, Walker was selected as the Iron Man of the Year for his ability to play at the highest-level on offense and defense. In 2009, Walker was named the third-greatest Iron Man of all time by the AF2 league.

The fourteen years that Walker spent as a professional football player have prepared him for his first job as a coach of professional athletes.

"Every coach that I have ever played for has helped me to be prepared for this," Walker said. "Every coach instilled something different in me."

One of the many coaches who Walker played for during his professional career was his new boss, Law Head Coach Sean Ponder.

"I am really glad to add Coach Walker to my staff," Ponder said. "I have known him for a long time and coached him during his playing days. There was no reason for me to ask Coach Walker for his references because his statistics and experience speak for themselves."

Walker is excited about the opportunity he has in Dodge City to start his coaching career with Coach Ponder.

"It is a like a dream come true to be able to come coach under Coach Ponder, a guy who I played under and respect tremendously," Walker said.
