Wal-Mart and Colorado Crush team-up to promote youth football

DENVER - Wal-Mart and the Colorado Crush, Denver's Arena Football League (AFL) team, have formed a partnership to allow youth organizations fundraising opportunities and provide tickets to all Crush homes games to youth football participants and their families.
The fundraising program will allow youth organizations to sell tickets to Crush games at multiple Wal-Mart locations throughout the season, with 20 percent of the ticket revenue being donated back to that particular youth organization. While youth football organizations will be the primary focus of the partnership, the program is open to all youth sports organizations in the Denver metro area.
Wal-Mart will allow youth teams to fundraise at their stores, with the Crush providing rewards such as autographed items and player appearances throughout the 2005 season. In addition, Wal-Mart has also purchased 100 tickets for youth football participants and their families to attend each Crush home game where they will be seated in the Wal-Mart Crush for Kids section.
Many Youth Football organizations throughout the Denver area are already members of the program, which now encompasses over 10,000 children along the Front Range.
"Wal-Mart is very excited to team up with John Elway and the Colorado Crush to sponsor 100 kids at each Crush home game," said Wal-Mart district manager Mike Walker. "Youth sports develop leaders for our future and fits well with our Good Works program."
"Kids learn so many valuable life lessons through sports and the Crush are proud to team with Wal-Mart to do as much as we can to ensure these youth sports leagues succeed," said Colorado Crush co-owner and CEO John Elway. "The Crush are dedicated to help promote youth sports in the Denver area and the partnership with Wal-Mart allows us to further increase those efforts."
