VSI Tampa Bay FC News Release
Tampa, Fla - VSI Tampa Bay FC' Mauricio Salles delivers five goals helping VSI topple Antigua 8-0 Friday evening in Plant City Stadium.
Salles delivered five goals exciting the audience in the opening 30 minutes of Friday evenings' match. Salles slowed as half-time approached and midfielder Shawn Chin took over in the 45 minute with the sixth goal.
Mauricio Salles on his five goals and one assist, "It was a great match, the last two weeks I had a concussion and I was working hard to get back on the field. Finally, I got back on the field and did a great job and it feels great. But more importantly we got the win. Its about the team."
Interim Head Coach Joel Harrison said, "We talked about coming out and putting together 90 minutes and being disciplined, overall we did that. We maintained focus."
Sebastien Thuriere secured VSI's seventh goal in the 72nd minute of play and Karamba Janneh rounded out Tampa's scoring spree with the eighth and final goal of the match. The goal, created by a hard tackle from Antigua's Hazeley Pyle on Jamie McGuinness, was assisted by Salles.
Interim Head Coach Harrison said, "Obviously Mauricio Salles had a great night but all over the field I thought everyone did their job. That is what will make us continue to be successful."
