Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

MISSOULA, MT- Early success does not always impact the end result of a ballgame. In Game 2 of this 6-game set between the Great Falls Voyagers and Missoula PaddleHeads the visitors jumped in front from the very start with a home run in the top of the 1st inning. Starting pitcher Will Rogers controlled the Missoula offense, keeping momentum in his dugout. The Voyagers' attack also kept the ball rolling after the quick start.

Anthony Manisero hit the very first pitch of the ballgame Wednesday over the wall in right center field. This started a huge run of success as Great Falls recorded 9 extra base hits in the game.

The Voyagers put runs on the board in the first 7 innings as their offense continued to pour it on.

The PaddleHeads had no answer in response to this offensive onslaught being held off the board over the game's first 8 innings. This allowed Great Falls to run away with a convincing 17-1 win. They have now won 4 straight games played in Missoula this season.

Manisero's home run only told a part of the story in the top of the 1st that saw the Voyagers take a 2-0 lead. Tommy Specht also brought home a run with a double in the inning to grab momentum early. The right fielder was 3-for-5 in his at-bats as one of the key elements to the offensive success. Maniserio flexed his muscles again later in the game.

Home Runs from Andrew Gauna, and Vincent Temesvary kept the momentum in the 1st base dugout, expanding the advantage to 5-0. This duo also struck in the 5th with an RBI single from Temesvary ahead of a double to plate a pair from Gauna. Gauna knocked in 4 in the win finishing 2-for-4 while Temesvery was 5-for-6 in an outstanding offensive performance. Great Falls also held a 9-0 lead after the top of the 5th. This was plenty of support for Rodgers who turned in a fabulous outing on the mound.

The former Michigan Wolverine was sensational over 5 shutout innings allowing only 3 hits in that span while striking out 8. This kept his side firmly in control of the game as the offense kept the gas pedal down. In the 6th inning, the Voyagers attack put the final nail in the coffin.

Great Falls sent all 9 batters to the plate in a huge inning plating 7 runs in the 6th. Specht and Zack Blazak had RBI singles in the frame to get things started to get their run total up to 12.

Manisero put on the finishing touches in a bases loaded chance hitting a line drive over the left field fence. The grand slam sealed Missoula's fate putting the PaddleHeads in a 16-0 hole.

Manisero was 3-for-6 in his at-bats, driving home 5 runs while scoring a pair.

Michael Ball made sure it would not be a shutout hitting a home run down the right field line in the bottom of the 9th. The offense never found its groove collectively recording only 6 hits as a team. Michael Koszewski was the only man in the lineup with 2 hits finishing 2-for-5 in his at-bats. After suffering 2 straight losses, Missoula will now try to pick themselves up off the canvas on Thursday night.

The PaddleHeads (42-31) will look to get things turned around in Game 3 of this series with the Voyagers (29-45). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. from Allegiance Field. Head to the ballpark for a 'Thursty Thursday' or catch the live broadcast on ESPN Missoula 102.9 F.M.
