Votes Lift Austin's Ellis To SIFL VIDSWAP.com POTW Honor

LAKE CHARLES, La. (May 20, 2009) -- Austin Turfcats QB Deron Ellis has been named the Southern Indoor Football League's VIDSWAP.COM player of the week by virtue of his performance and fan vote.
Ellis rushed for two touchdowns and threw another in the Turfcats' 55-27 victory over the Houma Conquerors. He leads the SIFL in rushing touchdowns with six.
Ellis outdistanced Louisiana Swashbuckler quarterback Alvin Bartie, who had seven touchdown passes in a 56-35 victory over previously unbeaten Acadiana, in the fan voting.
Each SIFL game has four MVPs for offensive, defensive, line and special teams. Two game MVPS are selected for balloting for the league-wide MVP by fans at the official league website at www.southernifl.com.
Austin (3-1) hosts Texas (1-2) while Louisiana (3-1) hosts Houma (0-4) Saturday while Acadiana (3-1) hosts Florida (0-1) Monday in week six of the SIFL's inaugural season.
