NEW ORLEANS (February 22, 2013) - The New Orleans VooDoo have announced that wide receiver Shay Hodge has been placed on the AFL's "Other League Exempt" list, as Hodge has signed with the Canadian's Football League's Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Hodge (6-2, 210, Mississippi) was assigned to the New Orleans VooDoo on a one-year contract on January 4.
In 2012, Hodge was a member of both the Kansas City Command and Georgia Force. While with both teams, he accumulated 53 receptions, 595 receiving yards, 11.2 yards/reception and ten touchdowns.
Hodge was signed as a free agent with the San Francisco 49ers but was released during rookie camp. Following his release, he was immediately offered a spot with the Washington Redskins. In 2010, Hodge was signed to the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad.
During his collegiate career, Hodge earned First-Team All-SEC honors in 2009. He finished with 173 catches and 22 receiving touchdowns and became Mississippi's all-time leader with 2,646 career receiving yards.
The VooDoo will retain Hodge's AFL rights while he is with the Tiger-Cats.
