VooDoo Continues to Bulk up Defensive Line with Louisiana Local

NEW ORLEANS (November 19, 2013) - The Arena Football League has assigned defensive lineman Josh Downs to the New Orleans VooDoo, announced the VooDoo front office Tuesday morning.

Downs (6-1, 295, LSU) was a four-year contributor at defensive tackle for the LSU Tigers. He played in 48 games with 11 starts and finished his career with 47 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

His best season with the Tigers came during his senior season, in 2012, with 19 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Downs was invited to the Raycom College All-Star Classic following his senior season.

Downs attended Bastrop High School in North Louisiana where he earned the right to compete in the Under Armor High School All-America game following his senior season. He was a Member of the ESPNU 150, as well as, being a SuperPrep All-America in 2008. Downs helped lead Bastrop High School to the Class 4A semifinals after finishing the season with 25 tackles and five sacks in 2008.

In 2007, Downs anchored a Bastrop defense that held opponents to 10.4 points per game en route to a perfect 15-0 record and Class 4A state championship as a junior in 2007.
