
VooDoo Assigned DB Dustin Bell and OL Zhamal Thomas

NEW ORLEANS (November 19, 2012) - The New Orleans VooDoo were assigned defensive back Dustin Bell and offensive lineman Zhamal Thomas, announced the front office on November 16th.
Bell enters his second season with the Arena Football League (AFL) and first with the New Orleans Voodoo. Bell recorded 10 tackles and one interception as a rookie with the Cleveland Gladiators.
Bell began his collegiate career as a wide receiver at UTEP before transferring to Bakersfield Junior College. He recorded 70 tackles and 10 interceptions while at Bakersfield. He Returned to UTEP in 2008, collecting eight tackles and one interception in 12 games.
"Dustin played for Defensive Coordinator Nick Ward in Cleveland and was one of the first guys that Coach Ward wanted in New Orleans," said VooDoo Head Coach Pat O'Hara. "He is a great athlete and his good moral character is something we want in our locker room."
Thomas enters his first season with the Arena Football League. Thomas spent two seasons as a standout at Navarro Junior College after originally committing to LSU, where he redshirted as a true freshman in 2006. Thomas, who was an all-conference honoree in 2008, led Navarro to a 10-1. In 2009, Thomas transferred to Arkansas where he played two seasons across the Razorbacks' offensive line.
"Zhamal was a player we brought in on a two day waiver last year," said VooDoo Head Coach Pat O'Hara. "We felt his potential and he is a solid player that we are inviting to the 2013 training camp."
