VooDoo Adds DL Prentice Purnell

NEW ORLEANS (November 27, 2012) - The Arena Football League (AFL) has assigned former Cleveland Gladiators defensive lineman Prentice Purnell to the New Orleans VooDoo, announced the VooDoo front office Tuesday, November 27th.

Purnell (6'3" 300 lbs. UWG) acted as a lineman for both the Georgia Force, as well as, the Cleveland Gladiators. While with the Force, Purnell appeared in two games totaling 4.5 tackles and one tackle-for-loss in 2007. In 2011, Purnell accumulated 11 tackles and six assists for the Gladiators. In 2012, he amassed six tackles, eight assists and two sacks while with Cleveland.

The Cochran, Georgia native attended the University of West Georgia. There, he was a two-year letterman at UWG and was named second-team All-Gulf South Conference in 2004.

"Prentice is a veteran, he has played a lot in the AFL," said VooDoo Head Coach Pat O'Hara. "He will bring great leadership to the VooDoo."

Purnell attended Blakely Country High School in Georgia.
