Volts Power Past MAINEiacs

Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release


LEWISTON, ME - Despite a hat trick by Etienne Brodeur, the Lewiston MAINEiacs fell to the Drummondville Voltigeurs 7-6 Wednesday night on Androscoggin Bank Colisee .

Drummondville raced out to a 3-0 first period lead, but the MAINEiacs rallied late in the period. Etienne Brodeur put Lewiston on the board at 18:04, tapping home a rebound past goaltender Fredric Piche. Moments after hitting the post, Ian Saab tried again, firing a hard wrister at the net, and scored his first career QMJHL goal, pulling the MAINEiacs within one.

Lewiston tied the game at three, on Brodeur's second goal of the game. Drummondville responded, with two more goals, taking a 5-3 lead. However, Lewiston rallied once again, tying the game at five, receiving goals from Matthew Bisonnette and Etienne Brodeur, who netted his first career hat trick.

Drummondville scored the go-ahead goal at 6:17 of the third off the stick of Sean Couturier. Gabriel Dumont added an insurance goal for the Volts who took a 7-5 lead. The MAINEiacs Cameron Critchlow added another goal with 1:51 remaining, but it would not be enough as Lewiston fell 7-6 Jordan Kennedy took the loss in net for the MAINEiacs. Lewiston will have to wait another day, for a chance to lock up their playoff spot. The MAINEiacs play host to the Victoriaville Tigres on Friday night at the Colisee.
