Dallas Vigilantes News Release

DALLAS, Texas - The Dallas Vigilantes have dismissed Rich Ingold from his head coaching responsibilities, team owner Peter C. "Woody" Kern announced Monday.

Assistant head coach and defensive coordinator James Fuller will be immediately elevated to interim head coach of the Vigilantes.

Ingold's dismissal came as a result of the Vigilantes' disappointing 1-5 overall record, as well as an incident between Ingold and a Vigilantes player at the end of Saturday night's game against the Chicago Rush.

"As an organization, we are extremely frustrated with our results on the field through six games this season," Kern said. "Our goals have been and will continue to be focused on winning championships. Unfortunately, to date we have not yet been able to put a championship-caliber team on the field for whatever reason, despite having some talented and proven AFL players on our roster.

"With that being said, we will also accept nothing less than having a professional, first-class organization. We are all disappointed and frustrated, but professionalism dictates being able to handle those situations with dignity and class. That was not demonstrated Saturday night and I personally apologize to our fans for the incident that occurred. Obviously, that type of behavior now and in the future will not be accepted.

"We appreciate Coach Ingold's efforts and wish him well in his future endeavors."

Fuller formerly served as head coach on an interim basis with the Arena Football League's Philadelphia Soul in 2005. Fuller is in his 12th season as an Arena Football coach. His previous head coaching experience also includes two seasons as head coach of the arenafootball2's Bakersfield Blitz, who Fuller led to the Western Division championship in 2002. Fuller was also an assistant coach with the AFL's Dallas Desperados from 2007-08.

The Vigilantes will hold a brief team meeting at 3:00 pm this afternoon at their practice facility at Clark Stadium in Plano. Kern, general manager Gene Nudo, Fuller, and Vigilantes players will be available for media interviews immediately following that meeting. Dallas will practice Tuesday-Thursday this week before traveling to Milwaukee on Friday for their contest against the Milwaukee Iron on Saturday, May 29.
