Brevard Blue Ducks News Release

Washington, D.C. - Victor Page, a 6-foot-3 guard from Georgetown University, who played with the Brevard Blue Ducks last season, was shot Tuesday afternoon while sitting in his car.

Page, who's red sport utility vehicle was shot at eight times, was hit three times, including once in the eye. After being discovered by D.C. firefighters he was flown by helicopter to Washington Hospital Center, where he remains in critical condition.

The 28-year old Page, who shared the Hoyas' backcourt with Allen Iverson, led the Big East in scoring, averaging 22.7 points per game in his final college season. He left college early for the NBA in 1997, one year after Iverson, but was not drafted.

Though successful at Georgetown under coach John Thompson, Page never reached the NBA, getting close as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves, but getting released before the regular season in 2000.

He then played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA, leading them to the CBA championship series twice and leaving as the franchise's all-time leading scorer. Known as "Sky" for his high-flying acrobatic dunks, he most recently played with the D.C. Legends, a popular "street basketball" touring team.

Page played in 14 games for the Blue Ducks in 2003, averaging 8.4 points per game.

"Our hearts go out to Victor and his family over this unfortunate circumstance," stated Mike Richman, owner of the Blue Ducks. "We wish him a very speedy recovery."
