Jersey Express News Release

East Orange, N.J. (Monday, August 31, 2009) - The Jersey Express of the American Basketball Association powered their offense today when they announced the addition of multi-dimensional guard Jordan Fowler to the team. Entering his first year of professional basketball, Fowler gives the Express another explosive offensive threat as the team makes preparations for their fifth season of play in the ABA.

"Jordan has the ability to be the best player in every gym we enter," Express assistant coach Smith said. "The moment he realizes that, then we can be the best team in our division. With his size and the style we are going to play, he becomes a dangerous player due to his ability to play various positions. I'm looking forward to him being our quiet assassin."

Fowler, a native of East Orange in northern New Jersey, is a graduate of Montclair High School and was named the 2004 Essex County Player of the Year by the Star Ledger. During his senior year of high school, he averaged 23.6 points per game from the wing and led the Mounties to the North Jersey Group 4 Quarterfinals. He also contributed eight boards and 4.5 dimes per contest for Montclair that season. He also piled on a school record 52 points against Paterson Eastside, and his 1329 points is also the highest mark in school history. Upon graduation from high school, Fowler continued his playing career at St. Joseph's University.

"This is a great opportunity to play with an up-and-coming team like the Jersey Express in a professional league with the history and tradition that the ABA has," Fowler commented. "As a first-year player, playing professionally, I'm ready to work hard and make my teammates better."

The Jersey Express is a member of the American Basketball Association and is currently preparing for their fifth season in the ABA. Quaasim Austin is the head coach of the Express with Cassandra Smith serving as his assistant coach, and the team will play their home schedule this year at East Orange Campus High School. The Express made the playoffs in each of their past two seasons and reached the ABA Elite Eight last year in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Express will open their 2009-10 season on Saturday, November 21st, when they host the New York City Thunder at 7:00 p.m. Season and opening ticket tickets are available now, and they can be obtained through the team website at www.jerseyexpress.net.
