Atlético Ottawa concluded their three-game away stretch on Wednesday evening in Winnipeg, taking on Valour FC. Ottawa exorcised ghosts of matches past to secure a convincing 1-0 win, their second consecutive road win (delivering the first loss in seven matches at IG Field for Valour FC) and setting the team up for an exciting return to TD Place on Sunday as they host Pacific FC.

KEY MOMENTS

It was a battle of the midfield for a large portion of the evening, with Bassett and McKendry key cogs in the Ottawa structure, orchestrating play in all phases of the game.

Just over 50% of the game action was concentrated in the middle of the pitch.

Ollie Bassett was in fact one of the Atleti players with the most touches (65) and passes (47) on the night, closely behind Miguel Acosta.

Coming in as a substitute in the 74', Zach Verhoven broke the stalemate and collected his first goal of the 2022 campaign. The 23-year-old was on the receiving end of another perfect cross by Carl Haworth and put the ball emphatically in the back of the net.

Verhoven has one goal and one assist this season.

Haworth registers his first assist in CPL, a second this season across competitions.

Atlético Ottawa's most recent addition, Spaniard loanee Iván Pérez, made his debut in the 74' after joining the club in training last week.

With the 1-0 win, Ottawa's GK Nathan Ingham earned his third clean sheet of the season.

Four members of the squad (Chris Mannella, Carl Haworth, Ben McKendry and Sean Melvin) are #PlayingForPride this June to benefit Athlete Ally, and this shutout win is a great start for the rolling tally.

Atlético Ottawa are set to return home to TD Place on Sunday, June 5th to face Pacific FC for the Catalina Wine Mixer Match.

Fans are invited to bring gently used soccer equipment to the game, and drop them off in one of the donation bins located at the entrance. Collected equipment will be donated to kids in need in our community.
