Amarillo Venom News Release
Amarillo, TX 3/22/11 - The Amarillo Venom is excited to introduce a new member to their team, but are asking for help in deciding a name.
The Venom will now have a mascot at every home game cheering on the team and they are asking their fans for help deciding a name for the giant-green snake.
"We are excited about the new mascot addition to our team," said Joe Morgado, the Venom General Manager. "We had a couple of names picked out, but decided to let the fans name their new mascot instead."
The mascot will be in action at the Venom's next home game against the Allen Wranglers on April 2nd, but will not have its official name until the April 23rd game against the West Texas Rough Necks. Whoever comes up with the mascot's name will receive tickets to the remaining 2011 regular season, as well as 2012 season tickets. The winner will also receive recognition at halftime of one of the Venom's home games.
"We are looking forward to seeing what fans will be able to come up with," said Morgado. "We have some of the best fans in the IFL and I know it's going to be a tough decision to pick the winner."
The Venom hit the road this week as they travel to Odessa to take on the West Texas Rough Necks Friday, March 25th, before returning home April 2nd to face the Allen Wranglers. Fans needing tickets can purchase them through the Amarillo Venom offices, located at 901 S. Buchanan in downtown Amarillo, by calling 806-350-7277, stopping by any United Supermarket location, or by going to www.panhandletickets.com .
