Venom Mascot Name Announced

Amarillo, TX 4/25/11 - The Amarillo Venom announced Striker as their official mascot name during halftime of their game Saturday night against the West Texas Roughnecks.
The name the mascot contest lasted several weeks with fans first submitting their name choice and later voting on one of three finalists; Striker, Fang, or Vinnie.
Since several people submitted the name Striker when the team was asking for suggestions, the Venom held a drawing at the half to see who would win the tickets for the rest of the 2011 season and season tickets for the 2012 season and Richard Thompson of Amarillo was the lucky winner.
"We appreciate all of the fan participation in helping us name our mascot," said Joe Morgado, the Venom's General Manager. "Congratulations to Mr. Thompson."
The Venom will be back in action Saturday, April 30th, as they take on the Allen Wranglers. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. The game will be the team's "Guns and Hoses" night where firefighters and policemen will be able to get in for as little as $8.
