Amarillo Venom News Release

Amarillo, TX 9/24/10 -The Amarillo Venom announces the resignation of head coach Jon Lyles. Lyles lead the team to the 2010 Lonestar West Division Championship. "Today is a difficult day for the Venom organization, we're losing a good coach and a great friend" commented general manager Joe Morgado

Lyles is leaving the Venom to pursue another professional football opportunity but this was not an easy decision for Lyles. "It's crazy how the coaching world works, when I came here last year I anticipated being here for many seasons. However, unexpected turns have occurred and I have been presented opportunities that would be in the best interest of myself and my family. The people of the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandle have been so kind to me for so many years and I consider it home. It has truly been an honor to be a part of this community once again" commented Coach Jon Lyles.

Lyle's resignation may come as a shock to some but not to team owner Randy Sanders, "Whenever you have a successfully organization, people will get noticed and rewarded, whether it's a player, a coach or a front office staff member" commented Sanders. "I am proud of what this organization has accomplished this year both on and off the field, these guys worked hard and it showed. We thank Coach Lyles for his time here in Amarillo and wish him nothing but continued success."

The Venom will start a search for a new head coach immediately and hope to make an announcement in the next couple weeks.
