
Valkyries Fall 3-1 to Omaha Supernovas

Orlando Valkyries News Release
The Orlando Valkyries (2-3) fell short in a 3-1 loss to the Omaha Supernovas (4-2) on Sunday night at CHI Health Center.
Omaha proved to be too strong for Orlando, who were without two starters. Outside hitter Jill Gillen stepped up and led the Valkyries with 14 total points, 13 kills in the contest. Full statistics for the game can be found here.

Set 1
The Supernovas pulled away in the first set, building a 13-point lead and taking the set 25-13. Omaha's Bethania De La Cruz had four kills, one dig and one ace in the set. Carly Skjodt led the Valkyries with four kills.
Set 2
Omaha went on a late surge to claim the second set 25-21. The two teams traded points throughout the set. The Supernovas took the lead at 19-18 after leading 2-1 in the set. The Valkyries' Melissa Evans had a whopping six kills.
Set 3
The Valkyries won the third set 25-21 after going on an 8-0 run. Down 6-3 at the start, Orlando tied it at 7-7 and then at 8-8 built its lead to 16-8. The Valkyries was led by Gillen with six kills in the set.
Set 4
The Supernovas took the fourth set 25-20. The two teams traded points up until Omaha led 16-15 and then went on a 4-1 run. Orlando could not recover to close out the set. Omaha's Brooke Nuneviller led all with five kills in the set.
The Valkyries are back in action on Thursday, February 22, against the Vegas Thrill at 10 p.m. at Vegas' Dollar Loan Center.
