Valencia, Allen Named Can-Am League Players Of The Week

DURHAM, NC - The official statistician of the Can-Am League, PA-Sportsticker, has selected Brockton Rox OF Chris Valencia and Quebec Capitales RHP Chris Allen as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

Valencia batted .474 with a home run, five RBI and 13 runs scored in eight games. He banged out 18 hits, including six doubles, slugged .711 and had an on-base percentage of .487. In Friday's 10-2 victory over the American Defenders of New Hampshire, Valencia went 5-for-6 with three doubles and three runs scored. The Garden Grove, CA resident is currently batting .322 with one home run, 24 RBI and 94 hits. He is second in the league in hits, tied for second in doubles (22), and third in batting average and stolen bases (25).

Allen tossed seven good innings in the 5-0 win over the Worcester Tornadoes Thursday. He allowed two walks and four hits while striking out three batters. The 24-year-old has a record of 5-7 on the season with a 3.38 ERA. Allen is tied for first in the Can-Am in shutouts (2) and tied for fifth in ERA.
