HARRISBURG, PA (November 24, 2011) - Harrisburg Stampede's General Manager and Head Coach, Bernie Nowotarski announced today that Veteran Defensive Back Richard Johnson has re-signed for the 2012 Season.
Today, being Thanksgiving, there is so much for all of us to be thankful for. Our Families, our Friendships our Co-Workers and all the people that Serve, Protect and Care for all of us. In the spirit of the Holiday it was a great gift to walk down my stairs this morning and see a contract in my Fax machine. On that fax was the name, Richard Johnson and the Stampede Family is very Thankful for receiving that paper-work.
Richard is a big piece to the Defensive puzzle that we are putting together in Harrisburg. The Owings Mills, Maryland resident and Virginia Tech grad provides the arena experience and true leadership that will help build this team in the 2012 Season. At 5'11" and 200lbs RJ has the speed, size and physicality that are needed to play in our secondary. Due to injuries and other circumstances, Richard was asked to do a lot last season and actually he was asked to do too much and it wore him down. Richard is an unselfish player and a total team player and he does whatever is asked of him. What we will be asking of him this season is to lead our secondary and our defense into being the most aggressive and ball hungry defense in the AIF. A task that the entire Stampede coaching staff is completely confident RJ will succeed at.
Just a Reminder: Stampede Open-Try Out Sunday November 27 at In The Net, Registration starts at 8am and Work-Out is from 9am - 11:30am
