SALT LAKE CITY - Utah's Major League Rugby team, the Utah Warriors, is hosting an attempt at the Guinness World Record for the largest rugby scrum, and proceeds from the event will benefit 5 For The Fight and Make-A-Wish Utah. With fan and player participation, the challenge will take place immediately following the upcoming international rugby spectacle featuring the USA Eagles and France's Stade Toulousain on September 17.

The thrilling matchup will be held at America First Field in Sandy, Utah, with gates opening at 3 p.m. and game kickoff at 4 p.m. The pursuit for the world record begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets to participate in the scrum, along with a commemorative t-shirt, cost $10 and can be purchased as an add-on at checkout when purchasing match tickets HERE.

"This ambitious event is about bringing people together for a great cause, a great time, and to make great things happen," said Andy Chesnut, commercial general manager of the Utah Warriors. "That's what Utah does. That's what makes this community special."

This momentous endeavor in rugby history serves to engage the community and rugby fans from around the world and raise funds for the Utah Warriors' local nonprofit partners, 5 For The Fight and Make-A-Wish Utah. Fans who have upgraded their match ticket at the cost of $10 are invited to come down onto America First Field after the game, where over 3,000 people will lock arms to break the record of 2,586 participants set in 2018 in Aichi, Japan. Proceeds from the record-breaking event will be donated to 5 For The Fight and Make-A-Wish Utah to assist in their respective efforts to drive change and create hope within the communities and families they serve.

"Make-A-Wish Utah is excited to have Warriors Rugby and the entire community on our side, helping us bring the hope of a wish to Utah's children with critical illnesses," said Summer Ehrmann, Director of Partnerships at Make-A-Wish Utah. "Participating in breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest scrum is an incredible opportunity for our organization and for one very special wish kid. We are grateful and humbled to have been invited to take part in this incredible project."

Business packages can be purchased through the Utah Warriors at or through Tacos Together, a local "community of communities" aggregator, who has partnered with the Utah Warriors in breaking this world record. Tickets to participate in the scrum and attend the match are on sale now.
