Utah Royals FC Return Home Saturday, Hosting Orlando Pride at Rio Tinto Stadium

July 13, 2018 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) - Utah Royals FC News Release

SANDY, UT - Utah Royals FC (5-5-6, 21 pts., NWSL 6th place) return home Saturday afternoon to Rio Tinto Stadium, hosting the Orlando Pride (7-6-4, 25 pts., 3rd place) at 5:00 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast on ESPNnews as the "NWSL Game of the Week," welcoming stars such as FW Alex Morgan, FW Sydney Leroux and GK Ashlyn Harris. The game will also air locally on 100.7 FM radio, with Greg Wrubell and Carla Haslam on the call.

Saturday marks the third and final regular-season matchup against the Pride for Utah, each previous match resulting in draws. URFC played its inaugural match on March 24 at Orlando City Stadium, a game remembered for MF Gunny Jonsdottir scoring the club's first-ever goal in the 3rd minute. However, a dubious hand ball in the box less than 20 minutes later allowed Marta to equalize via a penalty kick - resulting in a 1-1 draw. The two teams later met on May 9 at Rio Tinto Stadium, but neither side was able to find the back of the net in a scoreless draw.

Saturday kicks off a run of back-to-back home games for HC Laura Harvey's side, which will play four of its next five games - critical in the late-season playoff push - at home in Sandy, where the gold-clad Royals FC has posted a 3-1-3 mark thus far in 2018. Home games on July 14 and 20 are followed by a Sunday, Aug. 5 trip to Houston, followed by RioT matches on Aug. 8 and 11.

Utah and Orlando now find themselves part of a five-team pack separated by just five in pursuit of one of the final two NWSL Playoff spots, with roughly one-third of the season remaining. After suffering back-to-back losses for the first time in club history in the last week, Utah Royals FC look to capitalize on a return to the Wasatch Front for four of its next five games in the club's playoff push. Tickets for Saturday - as well as all upcoming home games - are available at or by calling 844.Real.Tix.
