Sandy, Utah - Utah Royals FC DF Katie Bowen has been called to the New Zealand Women's National Team for two friendly matches against Norway, held in Spain. Training camp will run April 1 - 9 with matches on April 5 and April 9 as both teams prepare for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.
New Zealand will appear in the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup held in France, facing Canada, Cameroon, and the Netherlands in Group E.
"Congratulations to Katie. It's an incredible honor for her, and well deserved as New Zealand spends the next several months preparing for the World Cup," Utah Royals FC General Manager Stephanie Lee said.
The Football Ferns finished its first tournament of 2019 at the Cup of Nations, with two defeats and a 2-0 win against Argentina. Bowen started two of her match appearances at the tournament, and currently owns 58 caps and three goals with New Zealand.
Bowen started 16 of her 19 match appearances and earned one assist for Utah Royals FC. URFC kicked off its preseason camp last week, as the team heads into its second season as a member of the National Women's Soccer League.
