
Utah QB Germaine sets single-season passing record

NEW YORK - Utah Blaze QB JOE GERMAINE tonight became the AFL's single-season record holder for passing yards in a season on his way to becoming the first quarterback in AFL history to throw for 5,000 or more yards.
Germaine completed a 16-yard pass to WR TOM PACE with 14:28 remaining in the second quarter to surpass San Jose SaberCats QB MARK GRIEB'S record of 4,841 yards set in 2006.
Germaine reached 5,000 yards when he again connected with Pace on a 10-yard pass with just over one minute remaining in the game. He finished the game 20-of-35 for 224 yards and 422-of-617 for 5,005 yards on the season.
The Blaze defeated the Los Angeles Avengers, 47-37.
