
USSSA Pride Snaps Cleveland's Win Streak

VIERA, Fla. - One big inning was all the USSSA Pride needed to end Cleveland's three-game win streak.
The Pride scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to defeat the visiting Comets, 4-0, in the first of a three-game series at Space Coast Stadium.
Cleveland starter Devin Brown recorded the first two outs in the inning then walked Shelby Pendley on four pitches. Bianca Bell then singled and Nicole Dewitte drew a walk to load the bases.
Nicole Pendley then singled to give the Pride a 2-0 lead and Hallie Wilson added a two-run double to close out the scoring.
Brown allowed the four earned runs on five hits and struck out three in going the distance for Cleveland.
Jailyn Ford picked up the pitching victory for the Pride. She allowed just one hit and struck out four in five innings of work. Jolene Henderson struck out four of the seven batters she faced in the final two innings.
Xie Yue picked up Cleveland's only hit.
The Pride improved to 10-0 while the Comets dropped to 4-12.
Game 2 of the series will be played on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
