USL PRO Weekly: Lions Thrilled by Opening Victory

February 22, 2011 - United Soccer League Championship (USL) News Release

From his view from the sidelines, the opening game of Orlando City's preseason and the club's first home game at the Citrus Bowl couldn't have gone any better for Head Coach Adrian Heath.

"We were really pleased with everything," Heath said by phone. "Obviously coming to a new city and starting fresh, the players that played did us proud. Considering we'd only been five days into preseason, regardless of the result and it's always very nice to win 1-0, we were more concerned with the way that we played, and I was very happy with that."

With the training camp scheduled to begin next month, the Rochester Rhinos announced that they have added two players to their roster. Joining the club are midfielder Brad Stisser and defender Will Traynor.

Stisser, a 24-year old native of California, played with AC St. Louis in 2010 where he scored five goals in 24 appearances. Prior to joining St. Louis, Stisser played collegiate soccer at Loyola Marymount after transferring as a sophomore from Coastal Carolina in 2006. While in college, he was a member of the Colorado Rapids U-23's (2007-08) and the Real Colorado Rapids (2009) of the Premier Development League (USL).

Eagles Sign Goalkeeper Reed

The Charlotte Eagles are pleased to announce the signing of Eric Reed for the 2011 USL PRO season, pending USSF approval.

Eagles GM Tom Engstrom hopes Reed will bring his winning ways to Charlotte.

"Eric Reed is a true professional and has been a winner throughout his career ranging from his college days at UCLA and the PDL's Southern California Seahorses to his professional career with the Carolina Railhawks and Cleveland City Stars," Engstrom said. "We expect him to be a great addition both on and off the field."
