Hot Wings - Danville stayed undefeated in regulation with a pair of weekend wins. Wings goaltender Craig Vardy turned aside 33 of 34 Sioux City shots on Friday to secure his first victory of the season. Bryan Marshall notched four points on the weekend.

Hotter Storm - Tri-City dumped Lincoln and River City on back-to-back nights over the weekend. Through four games, the Storm has allowed a league-low four goals against and has scored a league-high 17 goals.

Shootouts unkind - St. Louis has already lost twice in shootout this season. Sioux City hung the second loss on the Heartland Eagles Saturday. Brian Bales and Tim Kennedy scored for the Musketeers in the shootout.

Pernula Time - Tri-City's Nick Pernula had a threegame point-scoring streak snapped on Saturday but he still is among the league's leading scorers with six points. His two game-winning goals also lead the league.

Shooting spree - Danville's Nino Musitelli leads the USHL in shots taken with 19. Surprisingly, he has yet to score.

‘O' from ‘D' - Tri-City's Jake Obermeyer is the league's top scoring defenseman through two weeks. The Minnesota native has a goal and three assists in four games.

Danville goaltender Justin Tobe on the Wings' early-season shootout win over St. Louis (as told to Brian Dietz, News- Gazette):

"I was glad it went to another shootout. I felt pretty confident."

LPH/USHL Offensive Player of the Week:

Derek Patrosso -- DANVILLE WINGS

Patrosso (Northville, Mich.) earned Offensive Player of the Week honors after notching a goal and four assists (five points) in a pair of Danville victories over the weekend. His four-assist game on Saturday is a 2003-04 league-high. Honorable mention goes to Doug Conley (Tri-City) and Domenic Maiani (Sioux City).

LPH/USHL Defensive Player of the Week:

Troy Davenport -- GREEN BAY GAMBLERS

Davenport (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after an impressive, 24-save performance in a Gamblers shutout win over St. Louis on Saturday. Last week, Davenport received honorable mention recognition. Honorable mention goes to Craig Vardy (Danville) and Kevin Regan (Waterloo).
