On the Mark: Cedar Rapids head coach Mark Carlson has racked up 746 career wins behind the RoughRiders bench. Carlson, who began his tenure with Cedar Rapids in 1999-2000, ranks only behind P.K. O'Handley in terms of most coaching wins in the history of the United States Hockey League. O'Handley had 783 victories as the head coach for Waterloo and North Iowa. Entering this weekend, Carlson's career record stands at 746-545-112.

On the Rise: With 325 career wins, Tri-City's Anthony Noreen has moved into 10th place on the USHL's list for career coaching victories. Noreen, who guided the Storm to the 2021-22 Anderson Cup, was last season's USHL Coach of the Year.

Players of the Week: After going 3-0-0 last week, the Fargo Force picked up two of the three league Player of the Week honors. Kyle Smolen (Crystal Lake, Ill./Arizona State) had four goals and three assists for seven points and was +2, while defenseman Joe Palodichuk (Cottage, Grove, Minn./Wisconsin) registered 2-3--5 and was +5 in three contests. Cedar Rapids netminder Bruno Bruveris (Riga, Latvia/Miami) is now a two-time USHL Goaltender of the Week after going 3-0-0, with a 1.67 goals against average and a .939 save percentage in three appearances.

WJC 2023: After finishing first in its pool, Team USA advanced to the knockout round of the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship played in Halifax and Moncton. An 11-1 win over Germany in the quarterfinals preceded a 6-2 loss to Canada in the tournament semifinals. Team USA, boasting 24 current or former USHL players, will vie for a bronze medal in a game vs. Sweden Thursday.

Post Holidays: With a 19-5-0-3 record, Fargo stands in first place in the West with 41 points. Paced offensively by Cole Knuble (Grand Rapids, Minn./Notre Dame), who ranks ninth in league scoring with 13-16--29 in 23 games, the Force have allowed a league-low 62 goals on the year. First-year forward Mac Swanson (Anchorage, Alaska/North Dakota) has 8-19--27 on the year in giving Fargo the top-scoring rookie in the league.

Chicago owns a 19-7-1-1 record and its 40 points puts the Steel atop the East standing. Chicago has four of the top five scorers in the league in Jack Harvey (Stacy, Minn./Boston University) (20-18--38), Michael Emerson (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./North Dakota) (17-17--34), Mack Celebrini (Vancouver, B.C./Boston University) (16-16--32) and Nicholas Moldenhauer (Mississauga, Ont./Michigan) (14-18--32).

From the Blue Line: Cedar Rapids defenseman Eric Pohlkamp (Brainerd, Minn./Bemidji State), who was named recently named to 2022 World Junior A Challenge All-Star Team, leads all league defensemen in scoring with 8-18--26 in 24 games played.

Streaking: Having won its last six games, Fargo owns the league's longest active winning streak...Chicago's Nicholas Moldenhauer is in the midst of an eight-game point-scoring streak during which he's registered 13 points on four goals and nine assists.

Luring: Omaha forward Charlie Lurie's (Minnetonka, Minn.) four-goal game at Sioux City on New Year's Eve marked the second four-goal game by a USHL player this year. He also had an assist in the game for a five-point night.

Net Gain: Green Bay's Kristoffer Eberly (Pinckney, Mich.) leads the USHL in games (21), minutes played (1181) and wins (13). He ranks second in the league in saves (500), standing only behind Max Lundgren (Angelholm, Sweden), who has 507 saves for Des Moines.
