Update on Megan Gibson's Off-Season
January 12, 2009 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF)
Philadelphia Force News Release
After a long fall in my first semester of grad school I had a much needed Christmas break. It's been a pretty adventurous break for me, I feel like I've traveled all around the state of Texas. I started off my break by going to Marco Island, FL, talk about a fun trip. I had to do promotions for the company that recently endorsed me, Nokona. We started a new line for them called Diamonds in the Rough that will be coming out soon. Florida was a lot of fun and a great way to start my break.
I've been home now for over a month, but I head back to College Station to start training again here soon. Before Christmas, my life in Spring was pretty slow. I didn't do much of anything, I worked out quite a bit and went shopping a lot! I got a lot of good things for Christmas, especially for my Wii so I should be pretty entertained for a while. I also bought a lot of clothes with some money I got for Christmas so I should have a good new wardrobe when I come back to Allentown.
After Christmas I went to San Antonio with my sister and her boyfriend for a week. We had a lot of fun hanging out and having a good time on New Years. We went to one of their close friends ranch house, talk about a RANCH HOUSE! This place was like something you'd see on MTV Cribs. They had exotic animals everywhere, zebra, deer, and pretty soon they are getting a leopard. The ranch house had a place to shoot skeet, a shuffle board, pool table, and a lot of other toys to play with. Needless to say we had a lot of fun celebrating the New Year out by Uvalde, Tx.
One of my sister's teammates from college (University of Texas at San Antonio) was getting married on January 2, so my sister and I drove up to Dallas for the wedding. It was absolutely beautiful, she looked gorgeous and her new husband was a handsome Italian. The two met in Italy when Jen went to go play softball overseas. He's apparently the "Derek Jeter" of Italy, not bad Jen!! They looked so happy and the wedding was a lot of fun.
After a long week in San Antonio I headed back home to Spring for a few more days before I head back to College Station for a while. I received a phone call a few days ago from a Japanese agent asking me to come play professionally in Japan during my off season with the Force. I have accepted the offer and will be going to visit Japan soon to see where I'll be staying and everything so I'm pretty excited about going to live in another country for a while.
Other than that my Christmas break has been a great relaxing time spent with close friends and my family. I'm getting excited about all of my adventures coming up. Before I go to Japan I'll be coming up to Philadelphia to do my hitting clinic. I sure have missed Pennsylvania this fall, it's a great place! Hopefully I'll see you guys soon!
Take Care,
Megan Gibson #12
